With Signing Day just three weeks away, the final version of the 2020 South Georgia Rankings is ready to roll.

With Signing Day just three weeks away, the final version of the 2020 South Georgia Rankings is ready to roll. In this version there are five new names, each designated with the acronym (NR). The rankings have also been reduced from a Top 130 to a Top 110.

Since Version 6.0 the first signing period took place from December, 18 through December, 20.  Only high school players signing with FBS schools and FCS schools that offer scholarships were allowed to make their decisions final. A column has been added indicating which players inked their letter of intents.

The military academies and FCS schools that do not offer scholarships do not have letter of intents. Technically these players are still able to sign with another school that offers scholarships.

There are currently 44 players that have inked letter of intents during the first signing period, 38 with FBS and six with FCS colleges. There are currently seven players verbally committed to one of the military academies.

Right now the SEC leads the way with nine players inking scholarships during the early signing period. They are followed by the Sun Belt (7), C-USA (7), AAC (5), ACC (5), Big 12 (2), MAC (2) and the BigTen (1).

Auburn is currently the front runner for top recruiting honors in South Georgia having inked five players. All five players are ranked in the Top 13 including the #1 player, Zykeivous Walker of Ellaville (Ga.) Schley County.

Having inked three players each are Georgia Southern, Middle Tennessee State and Troy. Five other FBS schools have already signed two players from South Georgia; they are Connecticut, Florida State, West Georgia Tech, West Virginia and Western Kentucky. At the FCS level Kennesaw State and Mercer take top honors with two each.

Ocilla (Ga.) Irwin County two-way standout DJ Lundy is the highest ranked player yet to make his final decision known. Leading his team to the GHSA-A (Public) State Championship may have put his official visit schedule on hold. The #5-ranked player currently holds 19 offers with Georgia jumping into the mix on December, 16.

Daijun Edwards of Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County is the next highest player yet to firm up his final destination.  The #11-ranked player has scheduled official visits to Florida State and Georgia later this month.

Fellow Irwin County Indian Jamorri Colson, the #16-ranked player, also went public with his decision to hold off until the second signing period. Colson holds 21 offers with his most recent coming December, 20 from the Hurricanes. Colson plans on making an official visit to Miami this month.

There will be one more final ranking update after the second signing day. The sole purpose of this ranking is to show which players will be playing FBS or FCS football next year. It will include players who intend to carry on their college dreams at the military academies and the FCS schools that do not offer scholarships.
