Great recruiting classes lead to future success on the football field, and no one knows that better than Florida State Head Coach Jimbo Fisher. In Tallahassee, Jimbo Fisher and the Seminoles made a big splash on National Signing Day. For the second year in a row, Florida State has put together a very impressive class. Florida State’s class is ranked second on ESPN, fifth on Rivals, and ninth on Scout. By continuing to build on their successful recruiting ventures, the Seminoles are setting a firm foundation for the future of their football team. Florida State’s recruiting victories make it clear that recruits are confident in Jimbo Fisher and in the direction in which the Seminole’s football program is heading.

Not only did FSU add six prospects from the Sunshine State, but they were also able to attract thirteen prospects from out of the state; most notably, five-star DT Mario Edwards from Texas, five-star DT Eddie Goldman from Washington D.C., five-star QB Jameis Winston from Alabama, and four-star CB Ronald Darby from Maryland.

Florida State was able to sign quite a few highly touted players, including the top two defensive tackles in the country. They received Letters of Intent from players such as four-star LB Ukeme Eligwe, four-star WR Marvin Bracy, and four-star RB Mario Pender. The Noles were also able to flip four-star LB Reggie Northrup, who was previously committed to the Miami Hurricanes. One of the only dark spots on the day for the Seminoles was when long time Florida State commit, five-star DE Dante Fowler Jr., ended up signing with the Florida Gators. Despite gaining many highly rated prospects, the Seminoles are still waiting on top ranked QB Jameis Winston to sign his Letter of Intent. He may not sign it until next Wednesday, but is still expected to become a Seminole.

With such a promising recruiting class, the Seminoles should continue to build on the momentum. They are adding depth and play making ability to a defensive line that already houses an exceptional amount of talent. Landing consecutive recruiting classes of this magnitude only increases the chances of a bright future in Tallahassee and for the football program. Regardless of how these recruiting classes pan out, it is evident that Jimbo Fisher and his staff are quickly making a name for themselves in the world of college football recruiting.
