Gio Bernard's decision comes as little surprise, as he has been ranked as the top draft-eligible running back by multiple scouting services.
North Carolina redshirt sophomore running back Giovani Bernard has decided to forego his final two seasons of college eligibility and enter his name in the 2013 NFL draft.
Bernard, who finished second in voting for ACC Offensive Player of the Year, ranked fourth in the nation in all-purpose yards per game in 2012, averaging over 198 yards per contest.
His decision comes as little surprise, as Bernard has been ranked as the top draft-eligible running back in the 2013 class by multiple scouting services.
"I thoroughly enjoyed my three years in Chapel Hill, and coming to UNC was one of the best decisions I've ever made," Bernard said regarding his decision to enter the draft. "I feel like the best decision for my future is to enter the NFL draft this year. I want to thank Coach Fedora, this coaching staff and the previous coaching staff for putting me in a position to succeed. I am on track to graduate and I plan on coming back to earn my degree in the spring of 2014."
Bernard was a first-team All-ACC running back in both of his seasons in Chapel Hill.
