Virginia Tech will wear a special helmet decal in its bowl game to honor the victims of both the Sandy Hook tragedy and the Virginia Tech school shooting from 2007.
In the aftermath of the recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, Virginia Tech will wear a special helmet decal to honor the victims of both the Sandy Hook tragedy and the Virginia Tech school shooting from 2007.
The Roanoke Times is reporting that the decal is half green and half orange, to honor the victims at both schools, and has the number 58, the total number of victims at the schools, across the middle. According to the paper, it also has the word “Prevail” written across the decal.
The decal will be worn on the back of the Virginia Tech helmets for the Hokies’ upcoming bowl game against Rutgers on December 28.
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
