It was a better than usual week for college football; a week which involved most of the top teams. There were six undefeated teams going into week 10, and all of them remained undefeated following the weekend. Notre Dame got the scare of its life against a Pitt team that always seem to play them close no matter how their season is going, Alabama pulled out a win in the final minute on the road at LSU, and Oregon won a shootout versus USC.
Kansas State also emerged victorious, but it did not come without a price. Star quarterback Collin Klein was nicked up in the game against Oklahoma State, and his status is uncertain as of now. The Wildacts' next game will be against a good TCU team. Kansas State cannot afford any slip ups, already being a little behind the eight ball without a conference championship game to pad its record.

A pair of teams from the SEC can breathe a sigh of relief after last Saturday, just barely escaping with narrow wins over teams outside of the six power conferences. It does not matter if you have to come from behind in the fourth quarter to win (as in the case of Arkansas and Tennessee), a fundamental truth in all sports is that an ugly win is always going to be better than a loss. The SEC won a total of three non-conference games last weekend. While that is nothing to write home about, it now gives them a commanding lead in the overall win totals, and because I am in a giving mood, they are by default this week's conference winner.
With all the conference realignment from the past few years, how have the teams with new conference loyalties fared? For most of the teams, the switch has been difficult. Take, for example, Utah and TCU. Three years before joining the Pac-12, Utah went undefeated, and even beat Alabama in the Sugar bowl. Two years before joining the Big 12, TCU also went undefeated, including a close win over Wisconsin in the Rose bowl. Those days of breezing through an easy schedule en route to catching lightning in a bottle for one big game have officially come to an end. They are by no means bad teams now, but they have been unmasked, and are now just another ordinary face in the crowd.
