Fresh off of an Orange Bowl victory, Florida State junior cornerback Xavier Rhodes has announced that he will enter the 2013 NFL draft.
"I'm gone," Rhodes told ESPN after his team’s 31-10 win over Northern Illinois. "I did all I could in college. If I was to come back, I don't think my status would be getting any better."
A native of Miami, Rhodes was a first-team All-ACC selection as a junior, and is ranked by most scouting experts as the No. 2 cornerback prospect in the upcoming draft.
Current mock drafts have him being selected in either the first or second round.
In other Florida State news, oft-injured running back Chris Thompson announced that he will be joining Rhodes in the NFL draft. Thompson had the option of petitioning the NCAA for an extra season of eligibility, but decided to go ahead and take his talents to the league.
Defensive players Bjoern Werner and LaMarcus Joyner remained indecisive about their NFL futures, saying that they would mull over the decision for a few days before announcing their intentions.
