Blue chipper Deion Bonner charged in University of Georgia locker room break in.
One of the top cornerbacks in Georgia, and perhaps nationally, Deion Bonner and top rated sophomore running back Marquise Hawkins and an unnamed juvenile have been arrest for robbing the Georgia locker room last Firday. All involved were charged with theft by taking on Monday morning by the University of Georgia Police Department.
Carver junior defensive back Deion Bonner is charged with one count of theft by taking; Carver sophomore running back Marquise T. Hawkins is charged with two counts of theft by taking; and the juvenile, who is identified as under 17 years old, is charged with three counts of theft by taking. It was not immediately known whether they had been arrested yet, according to UGA police chief Jimmy Williamson.
According to police reports, the theft took place last Friday and items totaling about $1,990 were stolen from lockers of Georgia football players Alexander Ogletree, Abry Jones, Kenarious Gates, Jordan Love, Rhett McGowan, Jamal Allen and Quintin Williams. Police listed eight stolen items, mostly iPods and accessories. At least some of the merchandise was recovered in the sweep of a Columbus home last week, according to UGA police.
Bonner has scholarship offers from Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Miami, South Carolina and Southern California. Bonner and the two other Carver players were on a recruiting visit at Georgia on April 7 when the thefts took place, according to police.
Both players reportedly attended the Alabama spring game Saturday.
