SouthernPigskin.com Recruiting Analyst Luke Stampini releases his top 50 South Florida juniors.
SoFLAfootball brings you over 50 of the top prospects in Palm Beach, Broward and Dade Counties for the class of 2011. Each of the prospects ranked has been seen in action during a game, practice, camp, combine, or 7-on-7 event.
1. Teddy Bridgewater 6′2″ 175 QB Miami Northwestern: Bridgewater still needs to refine his passing attack, but there is no denying his athleticism, speed, and arm strength.
2. Curt Maggitt 6′3″ 205 DE Dwyer: Talented pass rushers are always in demand, and Maggitt may be the best at getting after the quarterback in South Florida regardless of class.
3. Kelvin Benjamin 6′6″ 215 WR Glades Central: Benjamin’s combination of size, athleticism, and speed cause matchup nightmares for opposing defenses.
4. Wayne Lyons 5′11″ 190 S Dillard: Lyons is excellent in coverage, runs well, and can deliver big hits.
5. Bryant Dubose 6′4″ 235 DE Northeast: Dubose has a nice build, moves well and can get after the quarterback.
6. Nick O’Leary 6′3″ 220 TE Dwyer: O’Leary is starting to fill out physically while still maintaining his speed and body control that make him one of the best tight ends in the state.
7. Miles Pace 6′0″ 235 DT/LB Miami Central: Pace is a bit of a tweener right now, can he grow into a collegiate defensive tackle is the main question. He is strong, moves well, and makes plenty of plays in games no matter the position he lines up at.
8. Charles Gaines Jr. 5′11″ 170 WR Miami Central: Gaines Jr. is a key element to the Rockets’ potent offense, and sees time a cornerback as well.
9. Bobby Hart 6′4″ 265 OT Cardinal Gibbons: Hart moves his feet well, but still needs a lot of improvement on his technique. His size and the fact he is over a year younger than many his classmates make him an intriguing prospect.
10. Kevin Grooms 5′10″ 165 CB/RB South Broward: Grooms is a very electric player that rarely comes off the field seeing time as a punt/kickoff return man as well.
11. Phillip Dorsett 5′10″ 165 WR St. Thomas Aquinas: Dorsett runs sound routes and has good speed, making him one of the better receivers in the area.
12. Denzel Perryman 5′11″ 205 LB Coral Gables: Perryman has excellent speed and athleticism for a linebacker. He also has a knack for making major hits.
13. Craig Wilkins 5′11″ 165 WR Hialeah: Wilkins is an athletic receiver that can stretch the field.
14. Jerron Seymour 5′5″ 180 RB Hialeah: Seymour is a tough runner and is able to break off the long run.
15. Jabari Gorman 5′10″ 165 S Monsignor Pace: Gorman may be undersized, but he makes plenty of plays in the secondary. He is at his best when allowed to play centerfield.
16. Rashad Greene 6′0″ 170 WR St. Thomas Aquinas: Greene has the physical attributes to be one of the best, with his great speed and decent size. He still needs to improve his routes and aggressiveness to get there.
17. Eli Rogers 5′10″ 165 WR Miami Northwestern: Rogers possesses good speed and hands. He also has shown a knack for coming up with catches in key situations.
18. Tacoi Sumler 5′8″ 160 WR/CB Gulliver Prep: Sumler is an explosive athlete that not only excels as a receiver, but in the return game as well.
19. Jerrard Randall 6′2″ 185 ATH Chaminade Madonna: Randall plays quarterback, but his ability to run the ball is what makes him an interesting prospect.
20. Anthony Rabasa 6′3″ 225 DE Miami Columbus: Rabasa is solid against the run and has a good motor, but his explosion off the line is a bit of a concern.
21. Shawn Ward 6′1″ 225 DE/LB Boyd Anderson: Ward’s quickness gives offensive linemen fits when rushing the passer as a defensive end, but he has the build of a linebacker.
22. Cedric Walker 5′8″ 165 CB Gulliver Prep: Walker is not ideal size for a cornerback, but has good technique and feel for the position.
23. Harmon Brown 5′8″ 165 CB Boyd Anderson: Brown is another undersized corner, but he sticks in receivers’ hip pocket and makes plays.
24. Orville Reynolds 5′7″ 165 RB Douglas: Reynolds is a speedy running back that is also a threat in the passing game.
25. Rakeem Cato 5′11″ 160 QB Miami Springs: Cato moves well in the pocket, has a strong arm, and throws a nice deep ball.

We at SoFLAFootball.com pride ourselves on seeing each and every one of the top prospects in person, if not during the fall in a game from the sidelines, at a camp, combine, or 7-on-7 event. Unlike other sites we do not base our evaluations solely on film or highlights. We want to feel the speed of the game, verify the caliber of talent a prospect if facing, and measure up prospects by being right next to them.
