War vet Daniel Rodriguez received his waiver from the NCAA today, making him immediately eligible at Clemson University.

By now, you are likely familiar with the story of Daniel Rodriguez, Southern Pigskin’s 2011 Person of the Year, who verbally committed and was accepted at Clemson. (View full story here: http://m.southernpigskin.com/ACC/view/the-daniel-rodriguez-story)

Rodriguez, who is currently enrolled at Clemson and will start summer classes immediately, has been awaiting word from the NCAA to receive a waiver to become immediately eligible.

Well, Rodriguez got the word today that the NCAA has granted him immediate eligibility and he can play with the Tigers this coming fall.

He will have three years of eligibility with Clemson.

"I'm really excited to become a part of the team. I have worked really hard for this opportunity, and I'm getting to know most of the guys. Everybody's work ethic and determination is to repeat as ACC champs. I'm really honored to be apart of that," said Rodriguez.

The Rodriguez story has been well covered with features on Fox News, Dan Rather Reports, USA Today and The Washington Post.

A combat war veteran, Rodriguez's dream was to play college football. Now with the news that his waiver has been granted, he awaits clearance from the ACC, which generally follows the NCAA on such matters.

The 5'9, 175 pound inside receiver, who runs a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash, hopes to make an impression on the Tigers' coaching staff in fall camp.

"I"m just excited to be a part of the Clemson family. I want to thank all the Clemson people that have helped make my dream come true," said Rodriguez.
