Three members of the Auburn football family were involved in a shooting at a campus apartment complex Saturday night.
According to multiple news sources, three members of the Auburn football family – two former players and one current player – were involved in a shooting at a campus apartment complex late Saturday night.
The scuffle apparently began when 23-year old Turquorius Vines and a friend started arguing with two other men whom they didn’t know over a woman. When the argument eventually turned physical, Vines said that either one or both of the other men pulled out a gun and started shooting.
While the exact details of the incident are still being worked out, it does appear that no less than five people were victims of the shooting last night, with three of those victims having ties with the Auburn football program.
Former Auburn football players Ed Christian and Ladarious Phillips were shot to death and current player Eric Mack is currently in the hospital with gunshot wounds, although his condition is unknown.
All three came to Auburn as part of the 2010 recruiting class. Christian was forced to end his playing career due to a bad back, while Phillips reportedly decided to give up the game this spring. Mack is an offensive lineman for the Tigers.
The Auburn police department will hold a press conference later today where more details of the case will be made available.
