Former Elon All-American Terrell Hudgins will help rank the SoCon teams this fall.
Southern Pigskin is pleased to announce that former Elon All-American Terrell Hudgins will be joining our panel of pollsters for the Steak n’ Shake SoCon Power Poll this upcoming fall.
A four-year starter at wide receiver for the Phoenix, Hudgins is the proud owner of multiple FCS records, including most catches in a season (123), most catches in a career (395), most career receiving yards (5,250), most career 100 yard receiving games (28) and most career games with a touchdown catch (34). Perhaps the most notable aspect of Hudgins’ collection of records is that many of the records were held by Hall of Famer Jerry Rice until he ultimately surpassed them.
“As far as the whole big picture of breaking Jerry Rice’s records and things that like, that didn’t come along until midway through my junior year,” Hudgins said of his pursuit of the FCS record books. “It wasn’t like I was going out to break them, but knowing that I was close to breaking some pretty big records was interesting. It was an honor to be a part of that.”
As the newest pollster in the Steak n’ Shake SoCon Power Poll, Hudgins will be rankings teams with the likes of former Georgia Southern Walter Payton Award winner Jayson Foster and ex-Appalachian State star and current Carolina Panther Armanti Edwards. The poll will be released every Monday during the course of the season.
“I’m glad to be a part of it,” Hudgins commented on his inclusion in the Power Poll. “The Southern Conference is one of the best conferences in the country. I kept up with the Steak n’ Shake SoCon Power Poll when I was playing and I kept up with it last year. I’m just thankful to be a part of it.”
