Jerry Moore Retires from App State

Jerry Moore announced his decision to retire following the Mountaineers’ heartbreaking overtime loss to Illinois State on Saturday.
Following an illustrious 24-year coaching career in the mountains of North Carolina, Jerry Moore has decided to retire from his head coaching position at Appalachian State.
Now 73 years old, Moore is one of the most distinguished coaches in FCS history. Some of his career highlights include leading the Mountaineers to the first “three-peat” in FCS history, beating Michigan in Ann Arbor in what many consider to be the greatest upset in college football history and winning 10 SoCon titles.
Moore announced his decision to retire following the Mountaineers’ heartbreaking overtime loss to Illinois State on Saturday.
Scott Satterfield has been named as App State’s interim head coach.
