SouthernPigskin.com SoCon Columnist Josh Buchanan makes his weekly SoCon predictions after going 57-8 so far this season.

Overall Record- 57-8

Furman (7-4) at Wofford (8-2)
This should be a classic battle of the ground attack vs. a balanced attack with Wofford boasting the #1 rushing offense in league play while Furman ranks #5 in both rushing and passing offense.  Wofford is pretty safe for a playoff bid but needs this win to have momentum going into the postseason.  Furman was almost dashed of all their hope for a berth with last week’s loss but could get a glimmer of it back with a win this week.  Wofford is just too much at home though.http://athletics.wofford.edu/common/controls/image_handler.aspx?thumb_prefix=rp_second&image_path=/images/2008/9/22/Widmyer-at-SC.jpg

Wofford - 35
Furman - 28

Elon (8-3) at Liberty (9-2)
This is Liberty’s last chance to impress the playoff committee for a playoff spot and Elon must win or else their chances are all but gone for a spot in the 16-team field.  This game is full of offensive firepower with All-Americans WR Terrell Hudgins and QB Scott Riddle of Elon and RB Rashad Jennings of Liberty.  We will find out how good Liberty is and if Elon is able to rise to the occasion in what is their first big game due to playoff implications since joining the SoCon.

Elon - 31
Liberty - 27

Samford (5-5) at Chattanooga (1-10)
RB Chris Evans (1,150 yards, 11 TDs) enters the game #1 in rushing yards per game and gives Samford a solid ground attack.  They also boast the top scoring defense and top rushing defense in the league.  Chattanooga doesn’t have the passing attack despite the home field advantage.  Samford wins by double digits.

Samford - 35
Chattanooga - 14

Appalachian State (9-2) at Western Carolina (3-8)
The Battle for the Old Mountain Jug has more at stake than most realize.  If the Catamounts win they will not only get the jug but they will have the satisfaction of knowing they kept App State from a top four seed.  QB Armanti Edwards leads the top scoring offense in league play against the top passing defense.  Expect to see App run the ball in a game that should get Edwards over 1,000 yards on the season.

Appalachian State - 42
Western Carolina - 21

The Citadel (4-7) at Florida (9-1)
The Bulldogs enter this week giving up an average of 29.5 points per game and Florida comes in after tacking 56 points on the SEC’s best defense.  QB Tim Tebow has an outstanding game before being pulled early to save their stars for the final regular season game and SEC Championship game.  This won’t be as bad as it could be but WR Andre Roberts and the Bulldogs won’t have the firepower to hang close in this one.

Florida - 63
The Citadel - 7
