SouthernPigskin.com SoCon Columnist Josh Buchanan makes his week nine predictions after going 45-3 through the first eights weeks.

Season Record: 45-3

Georgia Southern at Western Carolina
The Eagles come off a disappointing but impressive loss to App State that showed they are one of the most underrated teams in the nation.  Expect the opposite outcome this week behind sophomore QB Antonio Henton and a defense led by All-SoCon defender Chris Covington.
Georgia Southern - 35
Western Carolina - 14

The Citadel at Samford
Samford brings the SoCon’s top runner Chris Evans (120.5ypg) and has more talent than some gave them credit for in the preseason.  Expect a competitive game, however, the play of All-America and future NFL prospect WR Andre Roberts (50 receptions, 697 yards, 9 TDs) will be too much.

The Citadel - 28
Samford - 20http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/furm/sports/m-footbl/auto_action/2412064.jpeg

Wofford at Elon
This would be the FCS Game of the Week if not for the CAA matchup between JMU-Villanova this week.  Both teams enter the game ranked in the top 10 and feature several stars on both sides of the ball.  It is tough to pick a winner in this one as both teams are worthy of their gaudy rankings but the edge goes to Elon with home field advantage and next week’s Halloween matchup against App State likely on the minds of the Terriers.

Elon - 28
Wofford - 27

Furman at Appalachian State
Furman comes to Boone, NC for another Black Saturday tilt with the Mountaineers.  ASU QB Armanti Edwards is the league’s pass efficiency leader while Furman will be led by budding star QB Jordan Sorrells.  The Mountaineers win in a very tight game and Edwards, once again, shows why he should win the Walter Payton Award.

Appalachian State - 35
Furman - 28
