The school did not announce the exact cause of Rogers' indefinite suspension, and said his status with the team is up in the air for the remainder of the season.
Preseason first-team All-SEC selection Da’Rick Rogers has been indefinitely suspended from the Tennessee program, the university announced Thursday morning.
Rogers, a wide receiver who led the SEC with 67 receptions last season, drew the ire of head coach Derek Dooley on multiple occasions in the past due to what Dooley described as a poor attitude.
All of the reports coming out of fall camp seemed to indicate that Rogers had positively adjusted his attitude.
The school did not announce the exact cause of his suspension, and said his status with the team is up in the air for the remainder of the season.
Although it is never beneficial to lose an All-SEC performer, wide receiver is likely the one position where the Volunteers can best handle attrition.
Justin Hunter is arguably a more talented player than Rogers, although he has struggled to remain healthy during his time on Rocky Top. Elite junior college transfer Cordarrelle Patterson has also reaped the praise of his coaches during his limited time on campus.
