The top specialists in the ACC at each position, since 2010.

OFFENSE | DEFENSE | SPECIAL TEAMS

K Roberto Aguayo, Florida State — Winner of the Lou Groza Award as a national champion in 2013, Aguayo was actually a three-time first-team All-American with the Seminoles. After that historic stretch and remarkable success, he entered the NFL Draft, unique for a kicker, a year early. Aguayo converted 69-of-78 career field goal attempts and never missed an extra point.

P Sterling Hofrichter, Syracuse — Hofrichter was a back-to-back All-ACC first team selection in 2018 and 2019. As the Oranges starting punter since he was a redshirt freshman, he averaged more than 42 yards per attempt every year of his career and finished 2018 with the second best average in the league. His greatest strength, however, is his placement, having downed 99 of 270 career punts inside the 20-yard line.

KR Joe Reed, Virginia — Reed just led the nation with a kickoff return average of 33.17 yards per attempt this year, a margin good for third in ACC history. His two touchdowns this season also tied for the most in college football. For his career, Reed compiled 3,042 kick return yards, the second most in league history, and scored five times, tied for the third most in conference history.

PR Ryan Switzer, North Carolina — The premier punt return specialist in ACC history, Switzer is one of the game’s best ever as he finished one touchdown shy of the overall NCAA record with seven career scores. A two-time All-American, Switzer tied an NCAA mark with five punt returns for touchdowns as a freshman in 2013, averaging over 20 yards per try. He took two more punts back to the house as a junior.

AP Jaylen Samuels, NC State — There simply haven’t been as many players as versatile as Samuels. Throughout his Wolfpack career, Samuels was a tight end, running back, quarterback, receiver and return specialist. He caught 201 passes for 1,851 yards and 19 touchdowns, ran 182 times for 1,107 yards and 28 scores and had 12 kick returns for 230 yards. For good measure, Samuels even threw for 84 yards and a touchdown.
