The bright lights have been a fitting showcase for Cam Phillips as of late.

Virginia Tech wide receiver Cam Phillips continues to be at his best in big games, a notion he took to the next-level in a wild win over West Virginia to kickoff the season. Phillips caught seven passes for a career-high 138 yards and a touchdown in the Hokies' Sunday triumph, serving as the go-to target for new quarterback Josh Jackson. In a game that featured over 1,000 offensive yards, Phillips was a key x-factor.

Coming up clutch is nothing new for Phillips, who has 47 receptions in his last half-dozen games. Over his last nine outings, in fact, Phillips has at least six grabs in eight of them.

The bright lights have been a fitting showcase for Phillips as of late. Last season, he compiled 115 yards in a Belk Bowl win over Arkansas. Phillips, earlier, hauled in 12 catches, with a score, in the ACC Championship Game against eventual College Football Playoff winner Clemson. He had touchdowns in clashes with rival Virginia and Notre Dame, also topping the 100-yard mark in a win over nationally-ranked Pittsburgh.

Phillips' play will only aide in the development of the talented redshirt freshman Jackson. It's clear that he has a proven number-one option in Phillips, who was on the receiving end of nearly half of Jackson's completions. The Michigan-native was remarkable in his collegiate debut. Moving forward, the Jackson-Phillips relationship will be important as Virginia Tech competes in the ACC Coastal Division.

It was another big game for the Hokies and another big performance from Phillips.
