Wake Forest beats American Athletic Conference champion Temple 34-26 in the Military Bowl.

1. What a dominant performance by Wake Forest's front seven as the rush defense held Temple to -20 yards on 23 carries in a 34-26 win over nationally-ranked Temple in the Military Bowl. The Owls had just one run of over six yards. Near the end of the contest, with Temple looking for a game-tyying score, the Demon Deacons stuffed the Owls on a critical 3rd-and-1 that knocked the offense backwards and forced a pass attempt, which fell incomplete, on Temple's final play.

2. Offensive productivity keyed Wake Forest in the victory. The Demon Deacons compiled 368 yards of total offense, their highest-total since the middle of September. Quarterback John Wolford, injured in the game, threw touchdown passes of 41 and 20 yards. Running backs Cade Carney and Matt Colburn combined for 131 yards on the ground. Wake Forest's 34 points scored were its most against an FBS opponent this season.

3. Return man John Armstrong stepped up big when momentum was firmly in the Owls' favor. After the Wake Forest lead was trimmed to just 31-26, Armstrong broke free for an 80-yard kickoff return. Kicker John Weaver ultimately extended the advantage to eight with a 30-yard field goal with less than two minutes remaining.

4. Wake Forest won on third downs. The Demon Deacons were 6-of-14 on such attempts, impressively holding the Owls to just 1-of-12.

5. Early on this bowl season, the ACC is off to a 3-0 start. After an impressive showing back on rivalry week, the momentum continues league-wide.
