Brad Paisley speaks out against the magazine

After Massachusetts Mayor, Thomas Menino, wrote to Rolling Stone’s chief editors in heated response to their placement of a Boston Marathon Bomber on the front cover of their most recent issue, others have taken time to make their own statements.

As a result, chains such as CVS and Walgreens have stated that they will not have the RS issue for sale on their newsstands.  A CVS spokesperson wrote, “CVS/pharmacy has decided not to sell the current issue of Rolling Stone featuring a cover photo of the Boston Marathon bombing suspect. As a company with deep roots in New England and a strong presence in Boston, we believe this is the right decision out of respect for the victims of the attack and their loved ones.”

And the attention didn’t stop there. Brad Paisley took to Twitter, saying, “…the Rolling Stone Magazine cover with the bomber is in poor taste. We shouldn’t make rock stars out of murderers.”

Similarly, John Rich followed with, “Imagine what the mama and daddy of the EIGHT year old boy who was murdered must think about the cover of the @RollingStone @greggutfeld.”

The problem stems less from the article itself, which looks into how Dzhokhar Tsarnaev seemed to fall from the graces of an unsuspecting high school wrestling captain into a terrorist, than the decision to reinforce his celebrity status on the cover of the recent issue.

You can make your own judgments by reading the article yourself here: http://rollingstone.com/culture/news/jahars-world-20130717

As for us, we’re staying away from anything Rolling Stone until they issue an apology.
