I was impressed the Sanders was willing to appear on Fox to make his case.  While I don’t agree on the majority of his solutions as he sees it, I do think it’s important to play a road game.

I can’t imagine the nation electing a grumpy 80 year old socialist but we live in interesting times.

It was a bit contentious a few times but nothing mean spirited.  Sanders has a deep resentment for people that are successful as long as he doesn’t count himself in that lot.

It will be interesting to see the much younger and more radical field of democrats bring out the daggers and go after Bernie now that he’s leading in the polls.  He’s always been that guy that just wants to fuss about things with no real chance of winning a major election outside of his state.  Now he’s the front runner and it will be interesting to see how he handles things.

I can’t believe the DNC wants him at the top of the ticket for the general election.

I watched it too. I disagree with him a lot but have always given him credit for having beliefs and being willing to discuss them. He also sticks to his beliefs and will at times be critical of his own party. I always appreciated Dennis Kucinich for the same things.

One of the big talking points is this push for a Single Payer Health care.  It sounds so good.  But I have a question that i’ll wager a lot of people on this bandwagon aren’t considering…

Is the 350lb Smoker that doesn’t exercise and his Cholesterol is in orbit going to get the same coverage as a healthy 175 pound guy that eats right and exercises?  I have never heard that question asked of these Healthcare for all and I want them to have to look the public in the eye and tell people that the unhealthy people will be held to a more costly standard.

There are plenty of questions about it. I think the answer to your question is probably no - payment would be based on income versus health.

One thing that bothers me is that we’re talking about the funding mechanism for healthcare - not healthcare. In the discussion of the funding, the impact on the care isn’t considered as if everything would remain the same, but you wouldn’t pay at the doctor’s office.

I know someone that was considering being a nurse in the UK. The process had moved far enough for a visit and likely work arrangement. The person told me about underpaid people in the hospitals which made it less attractive employment (part of why they were seeking help from other countries). Consequently, there were people waiting a long time for medical care from overworked, underpaid people. I also know someone in another part of the UK that was a patient in their system. This person ended up having a leg amputated because of something that could have been managed, but the response was too slow.

We seem to ignore that part or just assume we would do it better.

State Run Health Care, like anything government run that everyone must participate in, will be like going to the DMV.  Imagine most people rarely get in and out of that hellhole quickly and without a lot of red tape…and that’s just to get a driver’s license or to register a car.

There are ways to have a health care system that everyone can live with.  Unfortunately their or too many cooks in the kitchen with a skin in the game wanting to make sure their specific interests are getting taken care of.

I agree. We have a bit of a hybrid system that could certainly be improved. As you said, there are a lot of interests that get thrown into the mix.
