Bombing 2 oil tankers is not a good thing to do. It is clear their targets (Japan and Norway) were from nations that are not likely to retaliate with military force.
The response should not be one that costs human life since Iran shot down an unmanned vehicle. But they do owe us 180 million for shooting that UAV down and we need to find a way to cover that or make them lose 180 million in something,
I may be a lib but I’m not scared to cross the line as I see fit.
Personally I think the US should be more tyrannical in these situations. Broadcast a message to the world that if Iran attacks another piece of US property (IF it’s in international territory) we will kill X/20 of their top military and political officials. Start tracking people via satellite and if they violate it send a few missiles in on important buildings. Give them an out by letting them reimburse us for losses if any “accidents” happen to lift the hit job on their officials.
If they think their own heads are at risk they will try to keep their dogs on the leash. If they have a few rogues that shoot down another drone they will look super weak globally if they are coughing up money for reimbursing us.
There are other targets worth considering too. Ports (non-oil??), nuke plant(s), and airports that would be easy to hit with minimal casualties and do pretty significant financial/economic damage.
I am 100% against a war as they are way way too expensive.

Actually this is along the lines of what I wish our policy was in general in the middle east. We go against the bad guys in power and then we get new bad guys once they other groups get enough power. I like an approach similar to what you’ve said that if you do anything to us, we’re going to flatten important things and people. We’re not going to spend the money and blood coming in with troops, and we’re not going to help anybody rebuild what we flatten.

I think what you are saying is really solid. We just have to make sure that any nation that we decide to go after looks like they are the aggressor and we are not making a knee-jerk reaction.
I think Colin Powell once said and this is a paraphrase to Bush: “If you attack it, you own it”.....So it we hit something so hard that we destroy the nation’s ability to support itself then will will be obligated to go in and nation build and I don’t care for that…
Iran never stopped making trouble. They sponsor hamas, have a proxy war vs. Saudi Arabia going on, and are sponsoring trouble elsewhere. I do not want a war, especially with my niece and nephew in the army. My nephew is just getting ready to come home from Afghanistan. Let’s all just hope nothing really comes of this. My niece is deploying in July. When my nephew returns I will give him time with family, then we will play some golf. I have a gift of my dad’s dog tags from his time in the Army. I can think of no better person to have them.
You’re right about Iran. They are a constant source of trouble. I hope things don’t escalate to the point of any significant military action - or any military action for that matter. Thanks to your niece and nephew for their service. I hope they both remain safe. I’m certain your nephew will appreciate the golf outing and the very sentimental gift.
Should take it out of that $400 million Obama sent them on pallets.
Are you talking about the Iranian assets that we unfrozen? If so that’s a total garbage statement.
Yeah can you imagine unfreezing their own money that they paid us 40 years ago in response to them verifiably stopping their nuclear program in a multilateral agreement that was working?
What a concept. Don’t worry Ancient, the great negotiator in chief is on the case. He is solving the problems like he always does…otherwise known as creating more problems and making the ones that already existed worse.
That’s what you get when you have an unstaffed government with ideologues leading who don’t actually understand policy and aren’t concerned with the truth but only what sounds tough at rallies.
