Since Clemson doesn’t have UNC on the Schedule the Tar Heels look good enough to run the table if they get a little better on scoring defense. Notre Dame looks “on paper” like the toughest game.

Assuming Clemson runs the table that could lead to an amazing ACCCG where the loser I think could get in.

The PAC 12 isn’t getting a team in.

The Big 12 is DOA

I have no idea how the Big 10 is going to play out but I’ll assume one team gets in.

The SEC appears to have enough parity that I’m not sure more than one team gets in.  The loser of the Bama/UGA game needs to run the table to have a chance.

It’s possible. Assuming Clemson wins out, it would come down to UNC. They would probably need to win out until the championship. I think they’re certainly improved, but I could also see them dropping a game or possibly two.

Think of all the asterisks people will put on this season.

Its possible, the SEC is not looking much better past maybe 2-3 teams that could cannibalize themselves.  UNC wins out, meets Clemson in the ACC Champ and hangs tough, it could happen.

Definitely possible but I think wishful thinking.  VT is decent this year but was missing like 20 players.  Close game with meh BC.

While we are talking playoffs can I just ask how the HELL is Ohio St consistently ranked #2 by multiple people without still having played a game??

Good question.  It’s also bold to assume that tOSU will prove their worth with half the games played. 

I thought of something else today.  What if UNC and Clemson go undefeated and both have COVID outbreaks and can’t play the ACCCG?  Does that secure both getting in?  It would be kinda hard for them to discredit teams that played twice as many games as the BIG or PAC even without an official Championship game.

I’m not sure if LSU’s surprise win over Florida helped or hurt Ohio State’s chance.  I would think it proved that playing 6 games isn’t enough of a sampling when a 30 point underdog LSU with a depleted roster beat a top 5 team in their yard. 

Politically, this probably helped Ohio State.

Let’s hope Clemson does their part in the ACCCG. If they win chances are both them and ND make playoff. I think the Playoff wants ND, esp with limited fans and TV being so important. If this happens, UNC to Orange Bowl and Miami to Cheese it or Gator.  That could put NCSU in whichever they do not go to. Wake to Charlotte, etc.

I think that helps OSU. Assuming they win, one way they could’ve been forced out is if Florida beat Bama and jumped into the playoff. This will knock Florida out so that removes a threat to OSU.

To answer the OP yes if you count ND as an ACC team if CU wins a close one in the ACCCG. If CU loses it will be Bama, ND, OSU and aTm barring any upsets. I don’t see a PAC 12 or Big 12 team getting in.

I think it also depends how Clemson loses should they lose.  Both losses come away from home, if this one is close that will be two very close losses, one game was plagued with Clemson injuries…I still think there is a slight chance to be in over A&M if we lose to a team by a close margin that the Playoff committee has liked all year long.  A&M has a good close win (maybe?) in Florida but otherwise pretty lackluster resume especially getting killed by Bama.  Clemson touts a solid win over Miami, and a very close loss to ND on the road with injuries to big names (which CFP looks at).

I don’t think we’ll lose this one going into it.  We’ll see how it plays out.

Either way this works out, this year will not make people happy about selection.

No way any two loss team is getting in. With aTm their loss was early and to the number one team. OSU is probably getting in after playing only six games while everyone else had to play at least 10. That’s a big advantage. And the B1G is changing their rules to make sure they get in.

Clemson and ND in along with tOSU and Bama. 

ACC might get some nice post season cash.
