I am glad the 2021 season is here.  Hopefully we’ll have packed stadiums with a full season of great games.

In week zero, the biggest game was probably Nebraska vs Illinois and it was a tough game to watch.  Nebraska stole defeat from the grasp of victory.  in his 4th year, Scott Frost’s team was undisciplined and made stupid mistakes.  Unless he can turn this around immediately, I don’t see him surviving .  Nebraska already had a built in excuse to fire him for cause if they want to cut him with the rather weak investigation for alleged “improper use of analysts and consultants during practices and games.”

Now we are into week one with some fine games:

UNC vs VT

Alabama vs Miami

Penn St vs Wisconsin

Clemson Vs Georgia

There are several other good matchup but these have a unique regional appeal.

One of the things I’ll be interested in see is how the NIL endorsements play out when some of these players fail to meet expectations.  D’Eriq King got a nice endorsement gig on his own and the entire Miami football team got a endorsement deal.  If this team goes 5-5 what will happen?  Clemson’s DJ Uiagalelei probably landed the biggest deal with Dr. Pepper and how with that affect him?

I’m glad we’re back with football and solely the offseason stuff. I like that they’ve started scheduling some good games in week 1. It used to be anti-climactic when week 1 rolled around but you still had to wait a few weeks to get a competitive game.

Clemson has some big gaps to fill but has had a lot of talent coming in for several years. My big concern, again, is the OL. I don’t understand how that’s always a ?. We’ll find out soon enough against UGA.

For the others, most are games that look good on paper by the brand of the teams but probably aren’t going to be good game. Miami will likely get blown out by Bama. FSU vs ND probably isn’t going to be very competitive either. UNC v Va. Tech should be an interesting one and important in the Coastal. I pick UNC in an entertaining game.
