I just don’t think Dabo’s style of coaching would translate to the NFL. Maybe with the right team I’m thinking Pete Carroll a similar coach and the Seahawks. Saban and Spurrier two great college coaches could not cut it in the NFL.

Dabo does have a great gig. Great fans, easy conference schedule, easy sell to recruits. Great assistants. He’s been able to keep them so far but things could go downhill if they leave.

I agree. Dabo wouldn’t fit well in the NFL. I think he knows it and it’s not what he wants to do. He like mentoring young men. He doesn’t want to deal with the egos of the the NFL and I think he knows they would listen to him.

I don’t think he’ll leave Clemson. He has built Clemson the way he wanted and into his baby and will have statues of him built on campus. If he were to go to Alabama, he’s taking over something already built and could still have problems as a new coach. He would have to win at the current level just to keep his job versus being where he is and being a hero.

How about a name not many are throwing out.  Luke Fickell.  He’s winning at Cincinnati right now.  What about Ken Niumatalolo of Navy?

I’m not sure you can lure Franklin away from Penn St, though the way this year is going who knows.  Apart from this year he has done really well there.  You do have being in the East going for you, which would be a selling point to a lot of coaches vs jobs in the west.

I think Fickle has done enough to get a better job than South Carolina.  I’m not sure about Franklin.

South Carolina isn’t a great job and I’m not sure it has the ability to be a good job anytime soon.  It’s capable of a short run but it has no history of anything established and it’s a place where coaches tend to end up retired or out of the business. As I said, the “SEC” logo overinflates SCAR’s fan base. It’s not going to recruit nationally.  It needs a guy that really knows the Southern Recruiting lanes and doesn’t mind working the JUCO’s and transfer portal to poach some talent players.

I don’t think Fickle will be considered. Some folks are saying Beamer but I hope not. Right now it’s Freeze and Napier.

The U of SC job is a good one. With our money, facilities, and fan base we are the best opening available unles UM dumps Harbaugh.

It’s not just facilities or money.  Just about every top school has heavily invested in state of the art facilities.  When every great program is amazing then you have to have other things to attract players.  What does South Carolina offer that other top SEC programs don’t?  What’s the hook?

For what it’s worth, UofSC needs to be better for the state and rivalry.

Napier and Satterfield both interviewed with USCjr, both have decided not to make a move.  USCjr is a dumpster fire no one wants to touch.

Beamer it is! It may be a good fit. He has ties to the area and did recruit some strong talent when he was an assistant at USC.

Beamer probably a good choice, but from his time at VT I can say he is the kind of guy to poor mouth other schools rather than laud his own. Don’t know if that is good for the long term. A lot will depend on asistants, etc..Hopefully he does well for them. They have some very passionate fans who really want success.
