Well, they said they wouldn’t….until they are. Today debates to add DC as a state and the Senate is working the SCOTUS packing angle.
This may be some of the most shameless examples of a power grab in my life time and maybe since reconstruction.
So if the Dems get their wish of adding 4 seats to the court the GOP will retaliate if they get power and add another 4…This is nuts.
As for DC…It will be deemed unconstitutional under Article I Section 8

Only a Constitutional Amendment can make DC a State. They should have tried Puerto Rico or some other liberal territory.
Again, if the Dems add a few States to state the Senate and House the should the GOP somehow gain power they will add two state to rebalance. Do you want to see a Norther Utah and Southern Utah?
