Yeah you two must be super pissed at the guy in charge then. No? Strange.

A real “cut” to average people like you and I means actually reducing the amount of spending towards an item.  In Washington DC, a “cut” usually means while one sides annual spending increases each year, the side that doesn’t increase the spending as much is called a “cut”. This is a long time time honored gimmick both sides have played with for decades.

I haven’t looked at the specific budget on this item but i’ll look it up.  Are they actually spending less each year on the is program than the year before or is Trump cutting back the annual increase?  There is a big difference.

Exactly right. I remember when Bush was attacked for his “draconian cuts” which really just meant it was a smaller increase than some people wanted. Actual cuts are rare.

I gave Obama a lot of credit when he talked about needing cuts to redundant federal agencies and hoped he was going to address it as he said. That didn’t happen. The Republicans play the same game.

Of course you run to the defense…

Or you could just admit, as reported there were massive cuts proposed to the overall funding for mental health.

It’s just a bunch of headaches right?

Serious question.  Is it an actual “cut” where the amount of being spent would be less then the previous year or was the proposal a less increase in the annual spending?  I’ve been looking but haven’t had a lot of luck.  I’m curious.

Read the link. Massive cuts to Medicare proposed which is where millions rely for the limited mental care offered.

Cuts. Less money. It’s pretty clear.

Why are you all surprised you are the bad guys? I thought you relished it.

Is it a real cut or a Washington cut?

Example:

Let’s say you are spending 300 a month on groceries this year.

Next year you think that should be bumped up to 350.00 per month and your wife disagrees and says it should be 325.00 per month.

By Washington standards, your wife in this scenario is “cutting” grocery spending compared to you. But neither are real “cuts”.  If in this scenario if you want to spend less than 300 per month that’s a real “cut”.

So I ask you again and I don’t mean this in a smart ass way..Is it a cut in future increases or a cut from an existing spending amount to a lower amount?  It makes a difference in a big way.

I’ve been searching as I said and these budgets read like a a cheap piece of furniture assemble instructions.

Dude…a cut was proposed by your boy. To his credit he proposes real cuts…of course in typical Trump fashion he targets those who he doesn’t think support him or are needy and he boosts funding to those he considers as supporters. Oh and he tried to lessen their sentences too.

It’s cause he is a good guy.

Dude you literally copied the link in previous posts. Read the article and follow the links in it and even the links in the articles that follow if you want more info.

Either you are fucking with me or you just didn’t see it. I know you are smarter than this though and I mean that seriously.

Trump proposed massive cuts in human services to offset massive military increases (just so he could then rob the Pentagon for stupid wall funding.) Remember when you guys hated those kinds of tricks? I guess that’s like deficits.

I read the article and followed the link and read that as well. It’s not well written IMO.  More of an attack piece which is fine.  I don’t know enough about SAMHSA to have an opinion on it’s effectiveness.  Speaking generically, if it’s effective then I would not be in favor of cutting funding and from what I can tell that didn’t happen.  Trump apparently did not get the “cuts”.

With that said, each State should be able to raise the money and deal with these issues at a more local level rather than being administered from a central government.  Nothing is stopping any state from creating a program tailored to it’s specific needs.  In fact a State like California needs to get it’s act together with this homeless situation because people are leaving that state in droves to get away from it.

All fine. No issue with your opinion on that but your last sentence.

Have you ever been to California? The state is booming and it is awesome. I just find it so funny that conservatives are so desperate to put it down when they live in shithole states that would love to have the kind of economy that California has. Is it expensive? Yes. Does it have problems? Yes. Just like lots of places.

It leads the nation in opposition to Trump. Mmmm, can’t do that right. Don’t attack the dear leader.

I haven’t been to California for a long time. I have family that has lived in the San Diego area (retired Air Force) and they’ve been there for 30+ years. The link you sent me doesn’t work but I’ll take your word for it.  California hasn’t been a conservative state since the Reagan area but it’s a vital state and despite assumptions I want it to prosper.  You are right.  There are several shithole states. My sense tells me we would probably agree on most of them.  FWIW, I liked California.  Hated the traffic.  It was terrible.

All it said was California’s economy will outpace the national economy. It has terrible traffic and is very expensive and is beautiful and diverse and massive with cold water and big ass mountains. Its another country if it wants to be and will become one again I’m afraid if you all get your way. Rest assured we will all pay that price and you will realize the damage done once it is gone.

My point is that conservative media trains you guys to knock California without knowing the facts. If California and all of its crazy “libruhl” policies were so terrible, how could it be the 5th largest economy on earth?

How could it lead all the red states? I mean it’s socialist right?

We are affected to whatever media we look at. That’s why I try really hard to watch/read as much variety in the news as possible. We all link our favorite stories to support a particular point of view. The big thing I look for is not what either side reports but what both sides are NOT reporting and that is what bothers me the most in the media. It’s not going to change and I’ll continue to be annoyed.

Northern California is lovely.  You are correct. That state could become it’s own nation and that would be regrettable.  If it did it could start a chain reaction of other states seceding and that would be a disaster.  While I don’t think it will happen I do think the state splitting up in to 2-3 states would have a better chance of happening.  But again I don’t see that happening.  As strained as things get there is a symbioses between the State and the National Government that needs to continue.

Ok.

Thats fine. You think it’s hyperbole but the damage your team is doing will destroy this country. If Trump is re-elected the United States will turn into a banana republic just like so many others as he will be unrestrained. The west coast is gone and I suspect New England will do the same.

It won’t be my fault but I’ll pay the price. I appreciate you all for that.

Mark my words, zero chance California stays. If they go it will be a domino. Mass migration will ensue and you won’t like what you “real” Americans are left with. Rest assured it won’t be so great.
