How far will they push things? Will China also use the fear of Nuclear war to take Taiwan?
I guess economic war and supplying nations with weapons is the way to go to keep our soldiers off the battlefield.
I wonder if there is a “line” that Russia can’t cross before Nato intervenes? My guess is if they used NBC weapons that could drift into Nato countries.
I don’t know about much of that. I do know they will own Ukraine when it is done as this is Western Carolina vs Alabama but they will fight a 10 year insurgency to do so. They will also reduce the country to bits and contract their own economy to Soviet levels once the sanctions take hold and China abandons them. All the while showing the world the limitations of their Army, Air Force and logistics lines, making the famed Red Army nothing but a lumbering old relic only fit to overwhelm weaker and smaller forces.
They’ve also strengthened NATO (probably getting Sweden and Finland to join) and forced Europe to break its dependency on them for energy over the next few years.
Seems like the “Genius” made the dumbest miscalculation of all time just to get some historic land that once was a part of their empire.
Yeah wouldn’t it be better if he stood with Putin and took his side?
Now you said you did not support Biden. I’m surprised you aren’t going after him. Trump or the GOP have nothing to do with the here and now. I’m not going to take a shot at you for saying Biden isn’t living up to expectations. He is letting a lot of people down that counted on him to be something that he’s clearly not.
He won the election by staying in hiding and maybe they need to put another lid on him It looks like they are doing it with the Press Secretaries.
You have a unique perspective that I would interested in.
I don’t understand your response saying I didn’t support Biden, but if you think Trump and the GOP have nothing to do with the here or now you are kidding yourself. Trump did everything the Russians wanted from playing up divisions in the country to weakening NATO and even claiming he wanted the United States out of it. They literally aided his election and pulled for him with misinformation while GOP members currently speak at White Nationalist rallies where they chant “Putin” and Fox News personalities are quoted and shown on loops on Russian State TV, praising Putin and calling Zelensky weak.
Trump did one thing he didn’t intend though, he got Putin to miscalculate and now he is in real trouble. His economy is on path to be halved in less than a year. His army is being shown to be a lumbering, outdated mess and is reduced to just hammering civilians with artillery while being bogged down by a much weaker conventional foe, and there are cracks in his support at home. The scary thing is that while he is being outmaneuvered internationally, his doctrine says use a tactical nuke to see if the West will let him get away with it. If he does that, Iran will have a nuke within months (thanks to our inability to verify their work anymore) and that means Saudi Arabia (and others) will buy one quick too and now we will have a huge mess on our hands as those countries can’t be trusted as responsible nuclear powers.
You recently stated you didn’t support Biden or Trump…I guess I misread that. Ok, I guess you do support Biden.
Most Biden supporters appear to have moved on from Trump bashing and are finding other sources to lay blame for Bidens failures.
With that said, I agree with you assessment of the Russian economy. The Military appears to be a paper tiger as well. This show that sometimes quality is better that quantity.
I just worry that the Russians have been able to get away with so much for so long (and it goes back before Trump too) that they thought they could get away with this also…and they didn’t so now they are caught exposed and they have the one trump card they can always fall back on when they have nothing else.
They always say in nuclear exercises where a small nuke is used that there is a decision point right at the start. You either don’t respond at all, and you are called weak, the enemy gets away with it, but Humanity survives or it quickly escalates to a world ending global nuclear war. It’s a no win situation.
That is what worries me.

That’s a very sobering comment. In growing up with the Soviet threat and living through the cold war it seemed everything was a stalemate and now we have so many other players that it only seems its a matter of time before something either Nuclear, Biological or Chemical occurs on the battlefield. (Of course the Chinese probably unleashed a biological attack on the planet either on purpose or accident).
If one of these types of weapons are deployed, the fallout could easily drift into NATO countries if the weather is right and as you said, what do you do?
We all lose in that case, which is why we don’t buddy up with dictators. We don’t echo their propaganda or lies and we ostracize those who do. We stand firm and box them in with collective security like NATO and unfortunately innocents in places like Ukraine pay the price.

We sell out to dictators all of the time. They give us access and we look the other way as long as whatever our agenda is being fulfilled. It’s getting a little harder to cover it up than it used to be in the good old days of the Shah off Iran.
I think the administration thought Russia would take over the Ukraine in a few days and be negotiating with a puppet government but it didn’t happen and the western nations had to pivot as the world wanted to support these people
How come when a Republican says that it is okay but when a Democrat says that they don’t love America enough?
We just had a president who even took their side and did it for all the world to see.
We even have a cult of a political party that flies his flags and was willing to attempt to overthrow an election based on his lies. The same political party doesn’t even want to investigate who were all at fault and has echoed the lies to this day.
So yeah we have a lot to be embarrassed about. Just not so sure you and I blame the same people.
Actually on spring break in San Diego so I’m about to head to the zoo with the family. You will be free of responses from me for a while, but…
I just will not let you pretend the two are not related. Trump literally tried to blackmail Zelensky and almost all of your team excused it. I told you Trump’s irresponsibility and ignorance would cost us for years to come. This is just one element of it, and like always thanks to his enablers he doesn’t pay the price. Everyone else does, including Ukrainians.
