Im surprised to hear you say that you agree with me 100%. Im not against scouting, but we just got tired of the crap with our den. I recognize there are differences at every location but I imagine that within a 10 hour radius of where I live, most scout groups are probably similar.

My son didn’t want to go to sunday school. He wanted to camp and burn things and use a knife. Our den turned in to culture warrior evangelical christian propaganda hour and he never wanted to go anymore, and I was like “Why am I aiding in the pushing of 20 dollar popcorn on people and busting my ass to make meetings when he isn’t even having fun?”

Maybe he will rejoin come Boy Scout time as they have alot of support but the sports conflicts are going to forever be a problem too.

I wish them the best but my contributions stopped and won’t restart unless he does.

When I was a Cub Scout Den Leader, i had the kids to the required “duty to God” component at home with their parents.  I am not their preacher and I feel that matters of faith needs to be a family issue.  I kept these discussions very basic and stuck to what the program was asking for.  On a few weekend camping trips that ran into Sunday’s we would do a very generic and brief non-denominational service…very basic stuff.

The Boy Scout side is great for the adults.  If a Troop is run correctly the older Boy Scouts run the meetings and set the agenda while the Adult Leaders and Committee are there to be facilitators and to offer guidance to the boys on how to run their Troop..It is literally night and day.  The boys don’t want their parents tagging along and we don’t allow them to attend any camping trips unless they want to go through all of the training, especially the “Youth Protection Training”

Keep the politics and proselytizing out and just administer the Scouting program and things are great.

Well I wish we had a den like yours nearby. The only one i didn’t look into was the one at the LDS church. I figured it wasn’t going to be any different.

The LDS program was somewhat different from the the rest of the scouting program. Also, from everything I have ever heard and seen it it is more of a religious indoctrination program.  Doesn’t really matter because they are pulling out of the BSA because they can’t handle the evolution that’s going on.  That’s a big loss of membership which is why in part I think the BSA is opening up the program to girls, which I think is great because the lessons the BSA program offer are just as applicable to girls.

Yeah, I’m sure it is a big loss.

Ill reserve my statement on the LDS program but suffice to say I steer clear of conmen and the organizations they found.

I share your sentiment.  I know much more about that organization than I care too…

Now if you could just apply that sentiment to your politics.

Now if you could just apply that sentiment to your politics.

I don’t think I am ready to embrace Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren politics….But I am ready to move on to a more level headed Republican than Trump if the opportunity is available.,

If you thought the last 2 years was contentious, the fireworks are really about to happen.  The Dem’s have the House and want to impeach Trump (with a Republican Senate) with the addition of it become the beginning of a Presidential election season.  Warren has already formed her “exploitative team”.

It’s going to be messy as hell.  Also, Ruth Bader-Ginsberg appears to be running out of steam quickly and if she can’t continue and Trump gets another SCOTUS pick you will be talking about a major world of crap that will be coming out of DC.
