https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/report-florida-state-ad-explains-how-jimbo-fisher-pulled-the-ripcord-in-final-season/

I read this originally at CBS Sports but it originated from Bleacher Report.  It’s a pretty hard slam on Jimbo which I feel much of the accusations has merit.  He did allow top players to get away with just about anything as long as they stayed eligible.

This article is also giving a lot of cover to Willie Taggart which I don’t fully agree with. Just because Jimbo had is part in FSU’s downfall doesn’t meaning hiring an HC with a losing record at one of college footballs premier programs was a good choice either.

You could see all of that happening and it looked bad. I didn’t expect the result to be such a bad team but they seemed to lose discipline and character and started dropping tight games they would typically win. It’s interesting to see that people had that perspective internally as well.
I do think it went down with Jimbo. It’s just hard to see where Taggart has helped. He’s new though so it’s not a great test yet, and I think he’s a good guy trying to go about it the right way.

Taggart not recruiting a QB for the second straight year is a big issue on what I think is a big short coming.  With the transfer portal you need to have QB’s in the pipeline all of the time.  FSU used to be one of the key schools for QB’s to want to play.  Maybe Tagget thinks he can snag one that way.

All I know is FSU can’t handle another losing season or even a 6-6 record.  In an ACC that is way down, FSU should easily be the second stallion of the league.  For the health of the league the conference needs 3-4 really solid programs.

As much as I am not a UNC fan, I do like Mack Brown and hope he can do something to shore up the Coastal.

I don’t care what Jimbo did.  It will never excuse missing a bowl game with VASTLY superior talent than everyone but Clemson on the schedule.  UF was the only other school close in talent level.

I haven’t read the article yet but will double back when/if I do.

I’m guessing it’s a lot of scapegoat sacrifice.  It will likely remind me of the Coots when Spurrier left and they claim he stopped recruiting but he has some of the best classes that USCjr has ever had even right before he quit.
