It’s finally time to get back to Football.  Here is the ACC’s Week one games.  After watching last weeks games including BYU @ Navy, I think the lack of a Spring Season and limited contact has really impacted the quality of tackling and I think there were are going to see a lot of chunk plays due to the lack of contact.

Thurs:

UAB @ Miami

Sat:

Syracuse @ UNC

Duke @ Notre Dame

GT @ FSU

Austin Peay @ Pitt

Wake @ Clemson

Western Kentucky @ Louisville

Obviously my attention is on Clemson, but I’ll also be interested in how UNC looks - and pulling for Chase Brice.

UNC will be fine. Clemson will be fine. Duke will lose, but will surprise ND. ND has question marks at RB, TE, and WR.  Pitt’s defense should be very good, and offense improved. Louisville will score 50.

I didn’t watch UNC vs Cuse but the box score seemed to show that turnovers kept it from being a blowout and Cuse still has major offensive issues.

ND is legitimately struggling with Duke.  ND up 7-3 but Duke is outplaying and out gaining them.  ND needed a dangerous fake punt to get 7.  I feel like the refs have been assisting ND a bit too.  Ian Books and his WR’s are very meh.  I don’t think they’ve even attempted a 15+ yard throw.  Chase Brice looks pretty good but his WR’s have too many drops.

UNC’s offense struggled after first drive. Howell threw two int’s, one of which was on him totally. The defense played very well. 7 sacks, but it was Syracuse. 202 total yards and 6 points, but it was Syracuse.

I’m interested to see FSU vs GT. FSU up 7-0 in weather delay, and GT freshman QB threw Int on first time with ball.

ND not as good as advertised by ranking, but now handling Duke pretty good. Duke’s DL outsized by ND’s OL, but they handled them pretty good in first half. ND pulling away a little now.

It will be tough to tell a lot off the first game anywhere, but UNC must improve on Oline. They have players, and will gel soon enough. Best OL player missed game, but is not hurt bad, and will be back next week. Lots of freshmen played, and two had brutal special team penalties. Roughing kicker gave Syracuse what turned out to be 3 points. Taking lessons feels better after winning, and esp after beating spread.

These FSU and GT offenses are struggling pretty bad.  I think I’ve seen 3 ints and 3 dropped ints.

Clemson game about to start now.  We left A LOT of players at home.  I think 3 would have been starters.  CB, DE, and WR.

I haven’t been real impressed with anyone i’ve seen yet today to be honest.  Like said, hard to tell a lot by these first games.

GT is now up 16-13 with 4 minutes left over FSU.  They’ve outgained FSU by a good 150 yards.  Yikes

Yeah FSU still trending down into the Norvell era.  Not looking too hot.

Yeah FSU still trending down into the Norvell era.  Not looking too hot.

The Willie Taggart hire set that program back a good 5-10 years.  Norvell has to change the culture and recruit a QB or snag one in the transfer portal

I would have liked to see a little more offense out of the 2nd team and some better play by corners but it was pretty clean besides that.

Big 12 Dropped 2 OOC games today. Kansas is down 28-0 to Coastal Carolina right now.

#23 Iowa State lost to Louisiana 31-14.
Kansas State lost to Arkansas State 35-31
Texas Tech only beat (0-1)Houston Baptist 35-33

When you only get 1 OOC game you should probably show up…. yikes

But FSU has MUCH better talent than GT…..

I’m not sure if you are teasing or being serious but either way, GT has the advantage of having a second year coach much more familiar with his team compared to what Norvell is dealing with.  Also, a lot of teams with “much better talent” got their noses bloodied this weekend as you pointed out in the Big 12.  I knew there was going to be some sloppy play in the first few weeks because Spring Ball was cancelled and normal practices have been restricted.

Clemson looked better this year for an opener than I’ve seen in several years. I was expecting a pretty sloppy first half both offensively and defensive and to my pleasant surprise they looked really good.
