Who in the ACC can stop Clemson?

Syracuse is just, worse than I’ve ever seen.  FSU looks in shambles once again.  Will UVA and VT ever even play a game?  Miami, BC, GT, and Pitt seem Marginal if that.  UNC is day to day with COVID now it seems.  ND may have the best shot and I think they are a bit overrated.

If this was a normal season, the ACC would be getting roasted right now for how they are playing.

ND by far then maybe Miami.

The Big12 is looking MUCH worse than the ACC right now.  Oklahoma State almost lost to Tulsa today.

The Big10 looks dumb for their indecisiveness.  8 games?  Is that gonna cut it?

I don’t recall Clemson’s offense ever looking this sharp after the first 2 games. Even playing cup cakes in the past they weren’t as sharp.  TL’s passes are incredibly accurate and ETN’s running like a pissed off bull in a china shop.

Dabo’s playing a lot of new people early which will serve they team in the stretch.

I’m not going to pick on the B12 because at least they are playing.  I think a lot of the bad play we are seeing is lack of spring ball and restrictive practices.  For some reason Clemson had the right recipe to handle this.

UNC has no Covid. The team they were going to play cancelled because they were missing a lot of OL players due to contact tracing. To answer to original question… yes, Clemson is the standard for all of college football now. Some teams, mostly coastal, are improving, but defense is what really sets Clemson apart. They are successful in recruiting big DL players and inserting them right into starting rolls. Until other teams can do that, Not named Ohio State or Alabama, Clemson is going to keep it going.

ND certainly has the best shot based on what I’ve seen so far. I agree with an earlier point that it’s hard to tell because their preparation for the season was certainly not typical. Clemson does look very sharp right now.

If any one thinks the Big10 can play 8 straight weeks with no cancellations they are not paying attention. UNC had a team cancel on them, and everyone they called wanted over $1 million for 1 game. There will be no fans at the game if it happened. Just parents, and they get comp tickets.  The fact is this season is what it is. A chance. I hate UNC is having 3 weeks off. They are up to #11 in the AP poll. Of course, after one week of SEC games they will be 15-20. Their game in two weeks vs BC will be at 3:30 on ABC or ESPN. It is an exciting season for UNC, and they weren’t even supposed to be really good until next season.

It is a strange season and three weeks off does hurt. UNC is definitely on the rise and may be the team to come out of the Coastal. The defense looked good in week one, though that was against a bad team, but we already know the offense can be productive.

I just watched the NCST vs VT condensed game.  NC State has zero defense and a mediocre offense.  I’ll go ahead and count them out.  VT on the other hand looks pretty clean.  Lines looked pretty good and the run game was popping.

Keep an eye on the Hokies.

UVA playing really well tonight against our defense playing terribly bad.  Our Dline has no pressure, our DBs are just missing blunders, apart from maybe Booth.  And we just have no read on the running QB.  Worst defensive performance so far I’ve seen from us in a while.  We have some growing pains there.  ETN is insane though, what a RB.

Miami could be a tough game unless the defense wakes up in a week.  We just look flat, but we need to be tested like this every once in a while to keep progressing.

We’ll see what the rest of the 4th QT holds.

That wasn’t the best team in the nation.  Not even the top 5.  But the SWJ message was well received.  Maybe next week they will get back to making football priority number 1.

Agree with Clem.  Defense is way to inconsistent.  Miami is likely a better version of UVA and could be a serious problem.  Our lack of a standout WR is a serious problems right now.  We need Ross back.

CUT4L, any other year I would agree we might not be top 5 but I’m not putting anyone but Bama ahead of us right now and maybe UGA.  Though I’ve heard both of them have had issues too.

While our WR’s are still developing Eitienne has become a lethal passing target. His YAC is a huge contributor.  His ability to power through takles is about as impressive as I’ve ever seen in a RB at Clemson.  The Specter kid at slot is also developing nicely. TE play is better than recent years.  These are all making TL’s job much easier by not having to focus on one or two targets.

This is going to be one of those years where we have to jump on an opponent offensively to take them out of their offense game plan.

Another element is homefield advantage isn’t what it normally is.  20,000 fans screaming doesn’t have the same effect has 82,000 on your opponents.
