Wow! I thought this would be as close to a sure thing as could be. It seems that Scott Satterfield of App. St. is the distant 2nd most popular choice. I think it would be a good hire that made a lot of sense.

LOL that will really hurt the fans.  Heading to the Louisville boards now to see how salty they are.

I think that tells you a lot about the state of affairs in Louisville.  When the hometown boy, who also happens to be one of the hottest new names in college football had rather stay at Purdue speaks volumes to how bad the situation must be there.

Sounds like a Mike Leach project.

Because I like to think, I like to read. I’m into freedom of speech, the freedom of choice. I’m the kind of guy who likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder - “Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of BBQ ribs with the side order of gravy fries?” I want high cholesterol.

I don’t think UL could outbid Purdue. If UL gets Scott Satterfield I think they would get just as good of a coach at half the price. Seems like a win to me.

I think it’s going to be hard to get a top coach wanting to go into a program that has problems to compete in a division where Clemson is going to be dominant for a while and FSU will be back soon with or without Taggart.

GT and UNC are the two program I think has incredible potential because the Coastal is wide open and if one team can become the anchor program a chance to win the league and get a CFP playoff bid is more attainable.

Kentucky people are very passionate about their teams, probably a lot like Alabama people in that regard. Some go to an absurd extreme. They have to get over the heart break. Another name I did not think of was Dana Holgerson. It could be he is tired of living in WV and/or Big12, you never know. However, I think Scott Satterfield is worth taking a chance on especially given the Petrino buyout price tag.

Saterfield’s resume reads similar to Brohm’s minus the time at a P5 school, switch WKU with ASU. The guy seems to be able to do more with less, something he will need to be able to do with Clemson and FSU in the same division. I think the hire would be as good as Brohm, though I’m a little surprised that the contract was over $4m a year.

If I were a cash strapped school I would go low base with big incentives.  Make the coach bet on himself.
