I haven’t been paying tons of attention to be honest.  But i’m trying to catch up and I see Clemson signed a pretty good class.  Really really excited to see our new punter Aidan Swanson, really reminds me of Pinion.  Would be huge for us to get a good punter, been a missing key for a while.  WR prospects look pretty crazy with what we have returning.  Lots of secondary help coming, and a pretty good QB.

Also, we have 1 commit in the 2019 class from South Carolina.  1.  That’s kind of crazy where we’ve gone recruiting wise.  This seems to be one of the more diverse classes location wise, 14 states.  California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Alabama, Maryland…..only 1 from SC.

Listening to Dabo’s PC right now.  You know how you listen to a coach and you just hear the peanuts teacher sounds because its all coach speak trying to hide from the media?  Dabo is not like that at all.  He seems so genuine and truthful.  Love his mindset towards recruiting.  Says he doesn’t sign JUCOs or Grad transfers, doesn’t offer 9th or 10th graders, and he only signs kids that want to be at Clemson.  He seems to judge a lot of kids by them taking unofficial visits in the fall saying that speaks volumes and that is why Clemson doesn’t do official visits in the spring, because if they will come on their own and not on a weekend paid by the school that is the type of player he wants in the program.  He has a very focused recruiting method and does not throw out offers like candy.  He has a formula and it’s winning.

FSU is loading up on OL and LB. I don’t think FSU’s recruiting class will rank as high as we are accustomed too, but they are filling positions of need. Hoping Evan Neal (long shot) signs with FSU. Need a lot of help at the OT position.

UNC got 19 and MB got the class from 13th in the ACC to 6th.  Got Sam Howell, and flipped a couple of others. I have a feeling they may try to find a JuCo nose tackle, and maybe LB. I’m pleased with how they finished relative to how it was going under Fedora. MB said the HS coaches in NC are very receptive. I fully expect UNC to get back to getting the best NC talent like they did when he was here before. MB is such a good “salesman” to recruits and their families.

MB seems to be exactly what UNC needed in order to get things turned around at least on the recruiting trail. I thought UNC this past season had a lot of close games that I could see them squeezing out a few into wins next season. I think by the time Mack is ready to hang it up UNC will look much more of an attractive job.

As for the ACC, the biggest take I got is FSU lost a couple of key players to Clemson and UNC.

Clemson landed DT Tyler Davis and UNC landed one of the top QB’s Sam Howell.  FSU can’t get a break

Clemson just got OG William Putnam as well.  I believe FSU was after him.

Clemson just got OG William Putnam as well.  I believe FSU was after him.

He will be part of a group of 17 that will be enrolling in January.  That puts the team as such an advantage to get them involved with Spring Training so by fall camp they will have a significant head start underdevelopment and getting the grades up and hopefully going good.

FSU was a long shot for Putnam, but they were after him. There were only 3 recruits I know of that FSU lost that were committed to them at some time. A DL that went aTm, OL that wanted to stay close to home (Mississippi) and Sam Howell.
Maybe it’s best FSU lands a bunch of 3 stars that will stay until they graduate rather than a bunch of 4-5 stars that will sit out bowl games and promptly leave for the NFL as fast as they can.

Putnam and Davis were big needs for Clemson too.  Great start for Clemson.  If we pick up Crouch and 1 more good OL, and I think we’re still aiming for a RB Ealy we will have basically everyone we wanted and one of the better classes we’ve had.  .
