A week ago I would be against this hire because of his association with Baylor. After coming across the article that absolved him of blame with what happened at Baylor I am ok with this hire, but not thrilled because his name has already been through the mud and a lot of people in the court of public opinion is still going to think he is a bad dude. From an X and O standpoint this a homerun and I believe he is more proven than Walt Bell the guy that left for UMass. FSU will be 3rd school to hire him, so if it’s good enough for FIU and Houston, then why not FSU? At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

I never was completely up to speed on the Baylor sex crimes but did stumble upon something not too long ago saying even Art wasn’t able to get fired with cause.  I think it said the sex stuff was more the fault of the school because they had the “our Christian students would never do something like that” and never pursued the cases.

Isn’t Willie supposed to be an offensive mind?  Is it just me or do specialty coaches fail at their specialty alllll the time?  QB/offensive guru Spurrier never had a great offense or QB.  Boom is supposed to be a defensive guy and couldn’t stop shit this year, McClwain at UF was supposed to be an offensive genius and never had a decent offense, Narduzi has leaned on offense more not defense at Pitt.

Anyway, I think it’s a good hire for Willie.  He needs anything he can get or would be fired next year anyway.  Baylor always had an elite offense.

WT gave up play calling duties midway through the season, but I see what you mean by the specialty guys not being that great at their specialty. I posted a link to an article exonerating the Briles not long ago.

I find it interesting the way he left Houston.  The Cougars just got blasted by Army 70-14 in the bowl, signed a 3 year deal to extend his his stay at Houston after one year.  I don’t blame Briles for taking the job,  He can only go up from here.

I am not sure if the Briles name has been healed enough for the negative recruiting.

There is no doubt that FSU is totally leaving any resemblance to the pro-style of Jimbo Fischer.

I didn’t keep up with the details of the Baylor stuff. I liken this to the media creating a narrative of guilt before innocence can be established. If he is an air raid guy FSU should hire a new OL coach. Also, you need to have a good qb, and capable wr’s with speed. That is why I’m so happy with Howell. Hopefully it will work for FSU. They fallen on hard times, and football is better when they are good.

Briles want to and likely will bring in his own OL coach and 2 GAs from UH. We are not sure what this means for coach Frey the current OL with the impossible task coaching up a bunch of Jimbo’s bust recruits. The Baylor offense under Briles resembled Willie’s GCO, so this is a good fit.
