1 U of L - I like the Coach Satterfield hire a lot. The guy is a proven winner and had arguably the best football program in the entire state of North Carolina with the least amount of talent. That bodes well for U of L as they will need to search for talent that falls through the cracks in a football talentless state like Kentucky.

2 GT - Geoff Collins seems like a good fit and understands the limitations at GT having coached as an assistant and being from the Atlanta area. He earned his chops on the defensive side of the ball where he had stints at GT, Alabama, UF and Miss St. Also known as a tenacious recruiter which will be needed for GT to be able to cast a wider net nationally to get those rare recruits who are both exceptionally athletic as well as Tech material students.

3 UNC - Mack Brown is a solid hire that will seem to be able to stabilize the program, keep it from free falling, raise money, bring in talent and build some excitement. I don’t think Brown is going to take UNC back into the top 25, but if he can raise the level of play and retire gracefully in 3 years I think UNC could be a very attractive job for a big splash name.

4 Miami - poor Miami had to make a quick, unexpected hire after Mark Richt abruptly retired. Fortunately Manny Diaz, despite the lack of HC experience, he might have been the best hire even if they had some time to make. At least the hire allows UM to keep some coaching continuity on defense and at the same time rebuild the offense (it needed it anyway).

I don’t think there is any way to answer this question because they haven’t done anything.  Mack Brown has the best “name”, but at this point but it’s easier to rate coaches in their first 2-3 years than this list.

I only know about Mack Brown and the fact that he got a top 100 QB to flip from FSU is a great accomplishment.  I’ll put him #1 for now.

Yep no way to tell yet.  Basically a preseason poll.  But I’ll play I guess.  Mack comes in 1st simply because of the early recruiting period success.  But if it weren’t for that I would probably put Louisville 1st and UNC would be floating between 2 and 3 fighting with GT.

1.  UNC
2.  Louisville
3.  GT
4.  Miami

Mack Brown has hired great assistants all of whom are very good to great recruiters. UNC is not too far away from competing. In the next 2-3 years I feel UNC will be the better of the 4 teams.

Manny Diaz has fired everyone on the offensive coaching staff:

He’s not playing around
