I was reading a couple of articles from the Southern Pigskin Staff and it left me scratching my head.  One was pretty harsh assessment of Chad Morris and the other one on Willie Taggart that seemed a lot kinder.

As they say in sports talk, I don’t care how the refs call it, just call it the same both ways and I don’t see this.  Taggart continues to get cover and Morris is being eviscerated.

Tagaart is in the ACC and what every sports writer in the English Speaking world claims is the easier conference where FSU has so much talent that a competent coach should have been able to squeeze out a bowl worth record.

Chad Morris is in what every Sports writer writer claims is the hardest division in the hardest conference that is NFL worthy and inherited a program that was screwed up and has a much harder job getting this team competitive than Taggart

Here’s the “Bottom Line” assessment both articles conclude:

Taggarts Article:

Chad Morris Article:

Bottom Line Opinion For Taggart:

This isn’t to say that Taggart isn’t the long-term solution for Florida State. He should be given at least another year or two before the Seminoles fans really start to push the panic button.

Bottom Line Opinion For Morris:

Such a disastrous season can’t be pinned on one item; multiple things went wrong for Arkansas last year. But Morris and the Razorbacks won’t be able to fall back on excuses if they experience similar struggles this season.

I think both deserve a good critique. But giving Taggart cover is like enabling an alcoholic. He didn’t recruit a QB again, his teams looked extremely undisciplined on the field which lead to stupid penalties and poor execution.

Just call it the same both ways.

Chad Morris at least sounds like he has a plan for his program.  Willie Taggart is just clueless in interviews.  But I agree with you.

I agree with CUT4L.  Arkansas was in a MUCH worse position before Chad than FSU before Tag.  Any competent coach should have gotten 8+ wins at FSU.  Dabo and Saban couldn’t have saved this season for Arkansas.
