Any energy left for a rant involving Deshaun Watson not winning the Heisman.

One of the worst Heisman voting farces I’ve seen in 2-3 decades.

Yea I’m pissed he didn’t win it but will gladly admit that he had a freakishly good season and is an amazing athlete.  Homer me would have given it to DW4.  CFB fan me is fine with the coin flip.

But now that you mention it the media committed too early to Jackson too for beating down an unstable FSU.  Remember that?  They refused to back away from anointing him in October.  A few admitted they regretted it after Watson’s performance in the playoffs.

IMO journalist are rapidly losing the public trust.  I’ve greatly reduced the amount of mainstream media I consume due to this trend.  It’s really a shame because they have all the resources available to mass produce great content.

It’s all about being a provocateur.  They(sports media) say things they know are going to piss off a fan base to get clicks on their twitter account.  I wonder sometimes if the believe half of the crap they say or post.

Then their is Paul Finebaum.  This guy needs a villain for his meal ticket Alabama. He has also enjoyed beating up fan bases that have challenged Bama from within the SEC that can’t take Saban out…..Well now he has a worth adversary in Clemson that he is having a bare-knuckles brawl with the fan base because he’s disrespected the Tigers and ACC in this new playoff era and the fans are giving him hell on his show….But he wants that.  Clemson is ratings gold regardless of being for or against is.

His “Gobsmacked” comments after this years title game is on my top must watch list:

Paul Finebaum looks like the emergency medical hologram doctor on Star Trek Voyager.

I think most of the hate is from the theory that it is Clemson and that is it for competition for the ACC. Your 2 toughest games are SEC opponents. Alabama has a terrible OOC schedule. Duke is their only power 5 school other than their SEC schedule. It looks like the road is paved for another Clemson and Alabama. I think we have a realistic shot at getting back to the playoffs. Just have to play the games and see what happens.

Dawgsfan, that’s why Clemson fans are mad.  Everyone always flipflops on the SOS issue.  Sometimes the SOS is why we have no shot.  Then the SOS is a huge advantage.  Which one is it?  Does it help or hurt to have a strong SOS.  It becomes even more frustrating when Bama beats the “UBER ELITE SEC” by 30ppg and yet there is zero criticism of the SEC for getting bent over like that.  Additionally just because they beat the breaks off the SEC they are crowned the best of all time until Clemson destroys them and now they have to make up excuses for why Clemson won.  No no, don’t write stories about Clemson being the best of all time for beating its schedule by 30ppg, AND 12-0 ND, AND 14-0 “best of all time” Bama.

Its just frustrating that Bama gets crowned partway through the season and Clemson cant get crowned after not only winning the games but destroying their schedule and two undefeated teams in the playoff (which may never be replicated) instead of getting crowned half the media is making up excuses.

For the record our toughest games are in the playoffs.  Which happen to be Bama’s, ND’s, OU’s, etc toughest games.

I watched ESPN Gameday and from what I saw, it is all about Alabama wants revenge from their 44-16 beat down. Their predictions were Alabama winning it again. Alabama this and Alabama that. Clemson has the crown and it will be hard pressed to take it away. I have seen a prediction of Georgia vs Clemson in the championship. I don’t see Clemson having much trouble getting back. It is what it is. The ACC has one powerful team and the rest will be fighting for scraps. Even if Clemson loses to Texas A&M early, it will still be early enough to rise back up in the rankings, win the conference and cruise to the playoffs. Alabama has a tougher road, but the talent is there. Their toughest games are @ Texas A&M, LSU and@ Auburn. Could they lose any of those? Yep!! Not likely, but it is possible with the talent that s on those opposing teams. They should be meeting us for the 3rd time in 3 years for the SEC championship. I believe we have the talent to beat them. We have to see what happens when the players hit the field.

My 4 playoff team predictions: Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia and Ohio State.
5. Alabama
6. Texas

Clemson has laid out the road map to beating Alabama.  If you try to play smash mouth football against them you probably will lose.  There are enough temas with QB’s that can air it out and stretch the field to wear down Bama’s d-line.  Bama should have 2-3 games that they could lose.

Interesting prediction. I can see UGA beating Bama if it comes down to that again. After 2 heartbreakers, they’re due. The question would be, depending on what else happens, if that keeps Bama out or if they still make it.

Dawgs only played Bama last year in the SECCG.  Auburn the year before.

IMO UGA has little chance of beating Bama.  If Tua is healthy UGA will not be able to keep up.
