One quarter of the season is already over just like that.  The ACC is not off to a good start.  After only 3 weeks of play, only 3 ACC teams are undefeated; Clemson, UVa and Wake Forest.

The Good:

Clemson is in cruise control.  Stay healthy, play a lot of players and fine tune things and everything should be fine.  The media will throw enough darts at Clemson to keep the fans panties in a wad like making an issue of TL’s int’s.

Pleasant surprises with teams like UNC and Louisville exceeding expectations with good gameplay.

The Bad:

Where do you want to start? I know, FSU.  ESPN is running an article where a kid has a lemonade stand to raise money for CWT’s buyout:

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/27628873/young-fsu-fan-sells-lemonade-buy-taggart

The trainwreck continues and if FSU loses to Louisville I think that it a big nail in the coffin because Louisville was so much farther behind FSU that this game shouldn’t be close for the Noles and the Cards might just beat them.

BC and NC State losing to the teams they played was a surprise.  Still scratching my head on those 2 programs.  I thought both were going to be stronger.

I give GT a pass this year even though they laid an egg to the Citadel.  It’s going to take a few years to revamp that entire roster.

The Coastal:  Still not good.

While I’m glad to see UVa undefeated, they are only a little bit better team than a horrible FSU team at home so it will be interesting to see how far they go.  The ACC really needs a stallion in the Coastal

Clemson wasn’t built in one year, and UNC will not be either. When Mack Brown is done I fully expect a top 10 nationally ranked team.

Have a timetable for that UNC?  Will he coach long enough to see that through?

As screwed up as the Coastal is, one team can win 10 games and the division pretty quickly with the right guy.  UNC has access to all of the talent in the South.

My guess is within 3 years, just like Finebaum said.

I do think UNC will be the one to emerge in the Coastal. I think they’re positioned to do so pretty soon.

The ACC will be fine as long as Clemson keeps dominating which I expect them to do this year.  We lost a lot on defense but still strangled the hardest part of our schedule at the beginning.

Stay healthy and go to the playoffs.
