Been swamped at work and haven’t hunted yet.  My fields are greatly neglected but my dads are in good shape.  Just put some oats out tonight and trimmed trees back, cousin put out corn yesterday.  I’ll probably try to hunt this week.

I saw a buck and 6 does on the way out of the woods tonight.  Dad was on the tractor and had a doe walk into the 1/3 acre field and stare at him for a minute this evening.

Seeking phase in the Upstate. I have two seven points in the cooler. Nothing to brag about. 150 to 160 lb deer. We tend to get the best action year after year from approximately 10/17 to 10/25. Seeking is my favorite phase. Maybe I’m just not smart enough to cash in on the rut consistently. When gun season has kicked in for six or eight weeks leading to the rut, hunting get really hard here.

Killed a really nice 9 point. I was in a ground blind in what I thought was a not so good set up. I’ve hunted hard for many years but I’ve come to the realization that sometimes you just have luck on your side.

Well we’ve had a slow season on our place most of the year because nobody has been hunting.  Killed 8 deer in the last week.  I got 2 does tonight 113# and 103#.  All the others were 90#+ too.  All the big bucks have been MIA even on the cameras this year strangely.

At the processor there was a guy with 3 deer between 55# and 65#.  He asked for the jaw bone to age them…..
