Do you guys support this stimulus bill? Do you think it will have a positive affect on America?

TBE honestly all of our arguing aside…answer this without pointless rhetoric or bickering. Just an honest take.

Obama says the goal of the stimulus is to create 3 million jobs. If you divide the $900 billion by 3 million jobs, you see that this stimulus will cost $300,000 per job - if it’s successful.

If we decided that we wanted to create 3 million jobs that paid $50,000, we could give businesses that money as long as they employed people for at least a year. The cost of that would be $150 billion.

Thats my rational too man…their are much better ways to do this…

But this isn’t about creating jobs…if it was we would just cut corporate taxes…its about the dems getting their way and growing government influence on our daily lives. Look at how he is handling the opposition to his baby. He keeps telling America that we will fail, the economy will collapse, the economy will never recover, the country will be forever in economic crisis. It is fear propaganda in its purest form…I mean what happened to his promise that choosing him was choosing change over fear??? In all honesty Obama and Peloci are really radical and scare me.

If this country is gonna make it we have to win back some seats in Congress…or I fear the future will get much worse than anyone thinks.

I think that the fate of the country is not dependent on the assclowns in congress.  Clearly, the current administration hasn’t exploded into glory like the media was implying.

“Radical” is a term I would reserve for someone who deserves it more.  I’d rather hear “doom and gloom” relative to the economy than terrorism.  That **** was getting played out.

I don’t think the stimulus bill is a good thing..  the government would do well to let some businesses wither and die.  Like a cancer in the body, sometimes things just have to be removed.

Ronnie’s ponzi scheme of voodoo economics are finally showing their true form like it’s 1929. I’d rather have the government do it than Wall Street MBA’s cooking the books.  At least there is oversight and transparency in government, see FOIA.  You don’t get that in business, in fact you get the opposite, insider trading.

I hope this bill passes.

I second that. I feel that they are radical, may not have done everything that a ‘radical’ person would but I think on the inside that’s how they feel and it’s starting to show on the outside as well

LOL great analysis man…the cancer reference is the best that I have heard to explain how bussinesses sometimes have to fail for the economy to succeed. Proping them up is just not doing anything.

Maybe Obama should do a Bush, go on vacation for the majority of the first 100 days?  Go back to watching American Idol.

I actually want government to work, unlike most people here.  I guess they would rather be 20 years behind the world.

Don’t tell me the infrastructure in Kentucky is good with Republican leadership at all levels when people there can’t even handle ice.  This would be no big deal in the Mountain West or Northeast (New England).

Let me guess it’s all Clinton’s fault along with the Democrats?  You don’t blame Bush (2000-2009) Republican controlled Congress (1994-2007)?  I can see why the Republican Party is becoming a regional rural party in the Midwest, Jell-O Belt and Deep South.

World wide depression is something that no government can stop…the free market economies of the world will set themselves right as long as no governments do something stupid like overspend and attempt fiscal policy that has been proven by to many economists to be useless in actually affecting things.

We can’t seem to stop it and its not logical to think that this huge albatross that’s about to be strapped to us,our children and their children will make a differance. What happens when all the other “investors” decide the US Gov is no longer “a good credit risk”? Look at consumer credit. What happens when you over borrow and borrow and try to live beyond your means? THEY cut you off! You think its rough now…this bill passes the value of the dollar is going to drop through the floor.

As the US goes, so goes the world. Economics 101

well it would appear the rest of the world, as you put it, is in a recession as well. Also, never met a poor man who was hiring.

As far as your thoughts on Kentucky, that is where I think most Americans have gotten off track by asking the wrong questons. Is it the federal governments job to make sure Kentuckys powerlines and emergency response is adequate.  Why don’t you ask why the state of Kentucky itself wasn’t more prepared.  Just like with Katrina everyone threw questions at the federal government instead of the state of Louisiana.  Of course I am a states rightist at heart and belive that the federal government should yeild the least power over your lives and teh local governments the most.  but again I am “backwards” thinking from most Americans these days.

Also Moutnain West,  as an aside…. it’s nice to be able to argue politics with someone and not have an LOL or a you southern hayseeds refrence thrown around every two seconds.  So thanks for holding legit discussion.

You reap what you sow with this Stimulus Bill.  I know that Republican governors need this stimulus, but their Republican counterparts in Congress say they don’t.  Let the States try to survive without the stimulus who their representatives voted “nay” on the Stimulus.  Then we will truly see survival of the fittest, you shouldn’t have it both ways.  Then you’re just stealing funding from which other states need.

Well first off I’m a big critic of Bush he screwed up a lot…I’m a true republican he is a neoconservative. BIG difference. Second its not just Clintons fault its the fault of many high ranking government officials over the past 15 years that did not do what we elected them to do…this applies to both sides of the isle. But rapid overspending is not the answer. If left alone the economy will right itself…if government trys to do too much the economy will do just as it did in 1929…crash. This bill is not being stressed for economic gain…its 30 years of liberal agendas trying to be passed.

This guy has a great take on this.

Thank you for defining Reaganomics and they have been throughly disproved by Bush.  They are no more than a Voodoo economics policy that combines Hoover-Reagan-Bush is a disaster for the world.
