I have two feelings concerning the fact that even though the electoral college votes were rather one sided, the popular vote was decided by less than 10%.
Those are:
1) It was remarkable that John McCain managed to gather as much of the vote as he did. I, for one, can not imagine a government with Sarah Palin a heart-beat away from the Presidency. I wish John McCain had won the presidential nomination 8 years ago.
After watching Sarah Palin during the VP debate, I felt insulted. I don’t need to be “golly gee"d and “gosh darnit"d when it comes to politics, and I don’t think this country does either. Framing beliefs and ideals into familiar terms is one thing, but the way she addressed the country made me feel indignant. We are not stupid, we can handle all this “high brow” crap that the government spits out. Given that this is the first time I have ever typed (or said) the word “indignant”, I am even more angry, because I don’t like fancy pants words. It didn’t help her case that I saw several videos on youtube of the interviews of rally participants.
2) I can’t believe there are people in the country who are stupid enough to believe that someone’s name is substantial enough evidence to link them to anything (for instance, terrorism). This directly stems from me watching those videos on youtube. I am not saying that anybody who likes Sarah Palin or John McCain is an idiot, because that’s not true, and i’m not associating a McCain Palin ticket vote with idiocy. I’m merely saying that anybody who would associate Obama with terrorism simply because of his name, however, should be sterilized with a hot iron.
That is all.
