Not at my school its not. It is a great tradition that is as strong now as it ever has been.

Is college football a minor league for the NFL? You sure seem to have a lot of guys leaving Clemson before their eligibility is up. That is an argument made by people who want to not like College Basketball. I hear it all the time from SeC fans…usually because their school sucks at the sport and always has.

Well…of the 8 Juniors that declared for the NFL that had graduated this year, Clemson had 4 of those players….

If they get their education then they have done what they needed to do for life…

But College Football is headed that way and there are fewer Dabo-type guys out there and more Hugh Freeze’s out their that treat players like a piece of meat

Fine, I agree with that, but you took the typical SeC fan shot at college basketball. Are there problems? Sure. I’m not an NBA fan, but I’m also not an NFL fan. I am a college fan and the idea that somehow college football is not a minor league but college basketball is, is a joke. I like all college sports. Some more than others, sure. Carolina basketball is one of the great traditions in all of sports and I love it so I don’t take kindly to the attempt to diminish it from a fan of a school that has almost no basketball tradition.

Weird that fans of schools that suck at basketball like to take shots at basketball. Strange how that works.

I swear you would argue with God over the color of sky…

I like the sport of Basketball and I too am a fan of college sports.  I don’t like how the sport has evolved.  If you are ok with that then fine! Great! You have what you want…I don’t care for it, but I am not going to riot in the street about it either.

Like I said, you took the typical shot at it. I hear it a lot from folks I know who are fans of schools without any basketball tradition. Outside of Kentucky, the SeC has pretty much abandoned the sport. Too bad for them. They ACC is as strong as it has ever been though. Instead of dogging it, you Clemson boys should demand to get in on the fun. You are missing out. The NCAA tourney is the best sporting event of the year to me.

I watch us play a week or two ago and we weren’t that bad really.  We lost but nothing really stood out to me as bad coaching/play.  Saw bits and pieces that totaled about 1/3 of a game.

After watching us play a little I’ve changed my mind a bit.

I’ve seen it thrown around that Tommy Bowden and Brad are similar coaches and that’s why we need to get rid of Brad, I’ve even made the comparison myself. However there’s one key difference that should not be ignored. Yes I know some of you will say “well results is what we care about” and I understand that but hear me out.

Clemson is one of the best football programs in the nation with rabid fans and great facilities. Good football coaches WILL win at Clemson. Even before Dabo brought us up to the elite level we are at now we still had major advantages over everyone in the conference not named FSU. In basketball its nearly the opposite. ACC basketball is almost ALWAYS the best in the country. Last year we broke win records for the NCAA tourney. There are 6 ranked teams with 2 more receiving votes right now. It’s hard to build a programs to greater heights when most of the conference should be better than you.
Recruiting Rankings:
2013: 14th ACC 74th overall Season Result 11th ACC
2014: 12th ACC 72nd overall Result 6th ACC
2015: 12th ACC 79th overall Result 11th ACC
2016: 15th ACC 106th overall Result 8th ACC
2017: 7th ACC 38th overall So far 12th ACC
2018: A shot at one of the best players in the country

As you can see Brad has really out performed his fellow ACC coaches in coaching. And I understand that as HC he’s responsible for building recruiting which all but last year he’s done a bad job. But now he has a new stadium, his best recruiting class, and an elite player interested in possibly coming here to play. Is it really a smart move to dump a bunch of money canning a coach when he could be a year or two from raising the bar for Clemson?

Also keep in mind that a single player can turn a team around in basketball and Brad has that type of player interested in us right now. To be fair I’ve hardly watched any basketball this year but what I did see we played ok. It’s apparent that our competitors have better players though.

Thoughts?

Looks like failure to me.  As I said, I don’t expect to be great, I expect to be competitive.  Contrary to my sig I know, but it’s because quite honestly we don’t care enough about basketball as a school plain and simple.  We’re happy with good enough, but the problem is we aren’t even seeing good enough anymore.  3-12 since the start of the new year.  3-12.  3 and 12.  3 wins and 12 losses since Jan 1.  Really?  You can’t close out games, close games, very few points games.  Lost 11 games now decided by 6pts or fewer.  We are what 1-6 the past 7 games?  This is crunch time, conference play where you should be playing your best basketball.  You have coaching blunders you have to apologize for in the post game because you had the wrong personnel on the floor.  The only time you’ve snuffed the tourney is with the previous coach’s players.  Nah, sorry.  I refuse to defend him anymore.  8 years and you still can’t even be competitive.

3-12 since Jan 1st.  4-12 in league play.  Wow and you are ok with this??  We won’t even be playing for the ACC this year to even try and be competitive.

Can you honestly say that you could half ass your job, or FAIL at your job for 8 years and you’d still be at the same desk?  No way.  At some point he HAS to be held accountable.  How many years do you want to give him?  A lifetime?  He’s just shy of a decade now.  He is done, he needs to be done.  Change will bring energy, especially with 65million dumped in the shell of Littlejohn.

I like how Tnet is calling him BrownL now.  Fitting.  Time to move on.  Perhaps like some on Tnet suggest it’s not so much like Bowden as it’s like West.  Bowden at least kept us somewhat competitive and put us in the position to win the ACC he just never quite got it.  West just had a dumpster fire like BrownL.

He’s outperformed his recruiting classes every year.  He finally has a decent class compared to his peers and an updated facility and we want to dump him?

I don’t think it’s worth the money to dump him unless there’s a Clemson grad coach out there crushing it at a lower level.

No you took at typical shot at the sport and I fired back. Want to take a shot at my school? Go ahead. I am sure it will be as filled with as many inaccuracies, half truths and straight out falsehoods as your political statements.

I really don’t care about UNC basketball…It is what it is.  I don’t care for college BB because of the what the game has evolved.  I am happy you like it.  Good for you.  Enjoy.  I know you are looking under every rock to fuss about something…I am not in the mood today.  I am pissed off at some other things in the real world today

Wake me up when we get a new BB coach, then I might watch again.  Can’t even win in the NIT LOL…...had a 20pt lead on Oakland and now they have the lead with 2mins to go.  Good ol Brad Brownell.  Pitiful.

BUT BUT BUT…..WE’VE HAD SO MANY CLOSE LOSSES!!!  Pshhhhhhhhh.  All you Brownell pumpers can pay money to go sit in that completely empty $65million dollar facility and watch his terrible team play, I won’t.
