West Virginia vs. Cincinnati.  A game with Big East championship implications.

I pay for ESPN GamePlan, but this will be the last year I do.  Instead of putting this game on GamePlan, which they easily could, they decide to throw it on ESPNu, a network that my local cable provider does not carry.  This is fully done to try and lure people over to a different cable provider that carries ESPNu, but it punishes people in markets that don’t have a choice of cable provider.

So, while I could be watching my beloved Mountaineers vs. the Bearcats of Cincinnati, I can’t.  At 7pm Eastern time, all but one of the six GamePlan channels are off-air.  This is greed.

ESPN sucks.  I don’t care who here works for them, etc.  This is utter b.s. and corporate greed and I’m surprised no one has brought an anti-trust suit against them yet.

Fierce, it’s a big deal around NY City. Comcast doesn’t offer ESPNU and there is a war going on with Comcast and ESPN. Comcast won’t carry ESPNU…

I have direct tv so I get it but millions of folks don’t. Sorry about that Fierce. What sucks is ESPNU won’t let local channels have the game. So if you don’t get ESPNU, your stuck. It sucks bro…..people in Morgantown and WV can’t get it either. Unless they have Direct TV or Dish…

Why does ESPN have to have ESPNu?  Isn’t ESPN1, ESPN2, ESPN360, ESPN Gameplan, etc. enough?  Why can’t I just pay ESPN for football and get the games I want.  Why all the different b.s. offerings and being in bed with the different cable companies.  It is so obvious why this game isn’t on GamePlan today, which makes GamePlan worthless to me.  I’m not watching any college football today, our family is boycotting it altogether.  I couldn’t get a f—- what is going on in NYC, and ESPN should keep their greedy noses out of it.  It’s b.s. like this that loses viewers, who knows maybe now we’ll decide Saturdays are more fun doing other stuff.

And why isn’t WVU broadcasting this on their website or something, take control of the situation a little for the sake of the fans.

Did I say ESPN sucks ?

Time Warner Cable in North Carolina carries all of those ESPN channels. ESPN-U, and ESPNNews are on the digital tier, but are also available on HD. ESPN and ESPN2 are on regular cable and HD. TWC here is having it out with MASN. They want it on the digital tier and MASN wants regular cable. The exciting news here is that Fox is starting a Fox Sports Carolinas channel that will cover NC and SC college and pro (Hurricanes) games. If you want CSTV here you must buy an extra sports package.

I’m quite lucky. I have a lovely wife, two great kids and an ever improving golf game.
