I am surprised that no one has brought this issue up yet as this ruling could potentially have a rather large impact on our culture.

This is one of those issues that everybody that likes to wager has been looking for but once you get it what do you do with it?.

How does everyone feel about this decision?

On one hand it really shouldn’t make a big difference because people bet either legally or illegally and this just brings it out in the open. But it is still a vice that can lead to potential problems once it’s legal and much easier for access.

I’m going to take the wait-and-see approach as not every state is going to participate but every state that will offer some form of gambling will be very different. I think the big loser is the Indian tribes as they have had a bit of a monopoly on gambling and it will be interesting to see how they respond to a potential loss of a probably pretty sizable Revenue stream

It’s going to be interesting to see how different states handle it and how it gets worked in for the states that allow it. The decision only covers sports betting so there probably aren’t going to be big casino type places but you may have some larger, modified sports bars.

It will be a while before it is legal in NC, that I am sure of. There is no inclination on the part of the general assembly to act on this any time soon, per their own words.

I live in Savannah, Ga right on the SC/Ga State line on the coast…If SC and Florida (which I am sure they will jump on board) Ga may have no choice or lose in-state gamblers to to the money elsewhere…

If SC, Virginia and I will throw in Tennessee all allow gambling, I don’t see how North Carolina can let that happen..The people in North Carolina that intend to bet will simply go to a boarding state that allows it and send those dollars over there…

Well, the family values televangelist fraudster types all seem to love a philandering failed casino owner, and are funded by a jewish one in Vegas so Im sure they will sell out their supposed high morals on gambling quick if they are told to…

just like they did with the lottery.

Full disclosure, I’m all for legal sports gambling. It’s going to happen widely and brazenly in the shadows so lets bring it into the light, regulate and tax it. What I don’t like is hypocrisy.

NC will follow suit only after Virginia and SC do it. It will probably be a while.

I would not bet against them, they have been controlling the game for many years.
