Happy Summer! I have been playing golf since Feb here in NC. Made for some cold play, but when you have that itch it’s on.

My dad has had some really bad health, and I haven’t played as much as I’d like. That said, I’m still stuck at around a 12 handicap. I’ve decided to get fit the local Club Champion location in Cary, NC.

Has anyone here been fit for clubs? I’d like to get driver fit, but think I’ll do irons first. I have Callaway cavity back clubs now. I’m also working on a new swing that involve less hip turn and more arm and wrist movement. (my back isn’t the most flexible due to a car accident years ago). I’m going to really groove swing first, then get fit.

Thanks for any fitting info you can share.

Good for you for getting a lot of time on the course. I’ve never been fitted for clubs but my brother just did it. If you’re changing your swing, I would definitely make that adjustment before doing it since that’s likely to change what you need.

I bought a net and mat to really groove my swing. I’m hoping to have it in hand by the end of June.

Cool. That lets you practice whenever you want. How often do you play?

I play 9 holes once per week. I play 18 about twice per month. 18 holes is a lot of time. I’m trying to convince my wife to join a private club. We have three within 10 or 12 miles.

That’s a good idea. I have some friends that play 9 every Friday morning. They play early and get through. I’ve joined them a couple of times but haven’t made it consistent. That’s a manageable amount of time and lets you keep playing instead of having to play 18.

Guy at my fitting was a total douche. I started having back spasms and he wouldn’t reschedule. There’s another place around here, and I’ll definitely call them. As of now I still have the same sticks. I did figure out I do best with 85 gram shafts. My 60 gram graphites are taking all the feeling out of ball contact and I thus feel I have no control. I need to get heavier shafts because with the graphite I have slowed my speed subconsciously do to a fear of “ breaking” shafts. I need steel to mentally allow me to cut loose.

Truly thinking now of just getting a titleist split set ap2 6- P and ap3 3-5 with a TMB 2 iron. The question was shaft and flex. Browsing choices I saw the True Temper amt red with increasing weight from 2-P. The red is the lightest and gives the highest ball flight. The question is the $1100. Of course getting them built custom costs about $2000. I could look at it as savings, and splurge for one of those adjustable drivers. Haha

got the 3-5 Titleist 718 AP3 3-5 irons. Took them out out to play today. I love them hit 3 around 200 yards, and took 5 off of tee a couple of times. Nice, ball flight, and my swing was causing a little fade. I hope to get the AP2’s soon. Can play golf here almost to December. I hope this will be my last set of irons.
BTW, my wedge and putting were straight on. I have a 50, 56, and 60 degree. Used only 50 and 56 today, and I flushed them. Had only 1 3-put, and I’ll take that any day.
