This has no chance of passing of course but I do give the House Dems for actually passing something for a change.

If it were to pass you would see more of these in the service industry:

States can and have their own minimum wages and that’s where it should remain.

I think there’s a fair discussion to have about raising it, but doubling it isn’t going to happen, and I believe they know that.

As you point out in the OP, ideas like that pass with no thought to the fact that other things change when there are big changes like that. It’s not like everything will remain the same, and the high school kid cooking fries at Burger King will just start getting $15 and hour.

Try to determine the value of labor politically I think will never work.  Not every job is worth the same.  Some are designed as training or entry level work.  Should a high school or college kid working in some mall snack shop be paid the same rate as a person busting their butts collect garbage in people neighborhoods?

Then there seems to be this “fad” that every job in America has to pay this non-definable living wage.

I just do see how equal values can be put on labor.  This is exactly why illegals are crossing the border.  But the reason why they are here is because a lot of businesses and individuals will pay these people under the table because of force labor rates are too high

I love the new Fox and Trump talking point of “they’re getting nothing done” both you and 98 have spout that lie in the past two days.

Ummm getting nothing done is your team’s area of expertise. I do enjoy watching you repeat talking point the cult leader tells you though.

A good pro and con on the minimum wage. A gradual phase in minimizes the negatives. In fact the minimum wage could be raised a few bucks immediately and it has been so stagnant for so long that it would almost have no overall effect either good or bad I suspect. Rest assured automation is coming for all of our jobs at some point so the whole fast food kiosk line you all like to produce is happening regardless. You know who is talking about that? Democratic candidate Andrew Yang.

While I choose to ignore the insulting side of your commentary I want to thank you for finally offering something meaningful to toss around.  These are good points worthy of discussion. Your Job maybe be more at a risk than others in a generation or two and the skies are filling up with drones. Personally I would rather have a human at the control even if 99% of the time a drone can do the job as good or not better.

If you think it’s just my job you are kidding yourself. It’s everyones job.

Which side is the insulting side? You made a statement that was a lie and I proved you wrong. So the truth is insulting?

Things are different prices in different states. Minimum wage should reflect this. Should there even be a federal minimum wage? There should be a bottom for sure, but $15 is just an arbitrary number. In the end I think automation is going to eliminate minimum wage jobs in a great percentage of places. I mean, I make a lot lot more than $15 per hour, and I’m pretty sure futurists say my job will be one of the first professions to be replaced by artificial intelligence. Fortunately that will take some time, and I’m getting older every dang day.
All that aside, one thing the raised wage will do in the short term is raise prices. Will the federal government put price controls on Big Macs, and milk, eggs, etc?  I doubt it. Will the new $15 per hour workers be able to afford the new prices, or rather will there be a normalization of the wage/expenses ratio? Interesting debate, but all for null. Senate will not pass, President would veto.

Hopefully in 2020 we will have both entities that work for the good of ALL Americans and has some basic decency. We don’t have that now.

You guys want to be treated with respect but then vote for people who have none for anyone who doesn’t praise them. This directly relates to the minimum wage as they do not respect those who earn it. I suspect some of you don’t either based on your snarky pictures.

Just wanted to say it is a PLEASURE to use those automated kiosks.  Love them.  I don’t have to talk to anyone, i can make sure my order is right going into the kitchen, there is no cashier mumbling something i can’t understand, and its SO much faster than waiting for them to take my order.  I use it every time I see one.  The only fast food place that doesn’t need these is Chickfila but I feel like their employees are generally happier overall anyway.

I’ve started ordering so much of my food through apps and delivery services.  It’s so convenient.

No doubt it’s the future. And everyone likes it until they aren’t needed anymore.

I’ll never forget having a loadmaster tell me that I was going to be replaced in the airplane. He was right in the long run, but what he didn’t get was that his ass would be replaced long before me. People with only high school degrees and no major skill will be the first to go.

Think about that as the Republican Party doubles down on the white male with no college education, yet laughs about kiosks.
It’s like parading the lemmings off the cliff.

If only there was a group that actually wanted to help them along with the brown people…I guess that is a line in the sand for some. No browns.

I’ve checked in at airport kiosks, and used them to buy food etc.. At no point was my color or the previous employees’ color seemingly relevant.

Same here.  Thanks to online shopping apps have little problems. I’ve flown a few times this year and Delta’s online service is pretty easy. Sam’s Club uses a “Scan and Go” feature on your phone which you scan year item as you shop and when finished just pay and leave avoiding the check lines.  As for restaurants, we more frequently order takeout online and bring it home from work more than go to eat it.  Of course AOC’s favorite company Amazon gets a lot of my business. Rarely do I need something so bad that I can’t wait a day or 2 to get exactly what I want.

Ironically, a force minimum wage hike may be the most “racist” policy as it will put probably more minorities Per capita out of work as these industries switch to automation.

Lol…way to miss the point but nice try. Of course you don’t think about it. You can’t even condemn the cult leader for the most base, hateful chants yet all of the sudden are going to think critically on class and race? Doesn’t mean it isn’t true. Keep swinging though…they are counting on your racial solidarity to divide you from your self interest.

What’s the matter with Kansas anyway?

Since that might be longer than 120 characters here is something a little more brief.

LBJ had the playbook pegged 60 years ago for your team. You’d think the old guy would get it by now:“If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”
