I would love to have Muschamp. We need to get back to hard-nosed Clemson football and his defensive mindset would do it. My dream would be Cowher or even Butch Davis…
The Davis to Clemson rumor mill is flying and egged on by talk radio up here. I dont believe it however, and not because I dont think Clemson is a bigger football job. I do…but simply because I dont think y’all can afford him. I think you would have to pay him 3 to 4 mil for him to leave. Add that to 3.5 you are paying Bowden and I dont think you guys have pockets that deep in this economy.
If you do, then I think your priorities are out of whack. Despite hiring Alabama coaches throughout your history…you are not Alabama.

I think Clemson is a bigger job then UNC, though with Davis at the helm in Chapel Hill, that statement you made could hold some weight in a few years. In the State paper today Butch Davis confirmed he had contact with Clemson about the coaching vacancy. Didn’t elaborate though. Davis would be good, but honestly i don’t expect him to leave UNC.
I’d like Muschamp. Swinney is doing a pretty good job right now though, midseason promotion, emotions for some are still on the fence so i didn’t expect him to come out and get us back instantly. I think with time and the team behind him he could be a good fit. He’s a great recruiter.

Clemson fans will love him. While at ECU he didn’t believe in a recruiting coordintor. In fact, he doesn’t believe in recruiting. He believe the players will find him…. I’m not kidding, he one time told me that.
What about Skip Holtz? The guy from Tulsa? And what about Doc Holiday?
I don’t think Davis to Clemson holds water. Would be nice, but is way too out there to be believable.
Logan? If I were going for a mid-to-top OC I’m going with Gus Malzahn at Tulsa. I’ve liked him ever since his Arkansas days, and I strongly believe he’s going to end up as a HC somewhere, likely at the end of this season. If Clemson were to hire him, I wouldn’t be opposed.

FWIW… Wed. night on Butch Davis call in on the radio a caller said something like…“All my NC St. and Va Tech. friends are saying we won’t a coach next year….. Davis’ reply was (kinda)..“Tell them No. Tell them to take a break. If you could have been in the locker room for 30 seconds after the last game… The players are giving it their heart. They look up and love the fans and the noise they make…....We are building something really special at Kenan (Stadium).
That may not be good enough for everyone, but it is good enough for me. Butch Davis is going nowhere. He will be at UNC for a good long while, at least.

Sorry I don’t know how to quote just a segment of a post. Davis refuted the statement above on his Wed. teleconference. He even went so far as to “berate” the reporter who brought it up during the interview. I wonder who was right, as both were reportedly directly from Davis. I do know I heard the denial with my own ears from Davis’ mouth. I’ll not impune The State as I believe they were probably getting that from Wire reports.
i had heard that rumor. if he got the job that would surprise me and would be a crushing blow to VT. Not that i don’t think he could make a good HC, just not sure if he is thought of in that light.
I clicked the link and read the story. It seems Foster has followed Beamer for a while. Is there ever any thought of him taking over when Beamer retires?
