I’ll take it. Oklahoma or Texas will knock the other out of the top-5 and we’ll move up. And Florida won’t go through their sked undefeated, which means they’ll drop in the polls at some point. Clear upward mobility for us.

It’s not where you start it’s where you finish. And winning three of our last four BCS games and winning 75 percent of our bowl games, and non conference games proves what an idiot you are. But that’s ok….. you’ll learn as soon as you all lose or get hit with your probation. lol and by the time we play Auburn we will be ranked and moving up, as will USF.

I realize it’s legal in your state now, but gezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz if you can just get through the first few days it’s gets easier. Try it, please. Then pinch your ear before you post. Being high and stupid is nowhere to be buddy, nowhere to be!

As long as polls drive everything in college football, where you start does matter. Many say things like “preseason polls are worthless”, which otherwise I’d agree with. But given how things are and how much rankings matter as they determine who plays for the BCS title (versus a playoff being the determinant), a high ranking does position a team better for playing in the BCS title game than a team who is unranked, as the ranked team doesn’t have to climb as far or as much to do to get there. Sure, there is the plummet factor but preseason rankings do position certain teams better. I don’t like that but that’s the reality unfortunately. Until we get a playoff, hopefully.

Switch Georgia Tech with TCU and Nebraska with BYU.  Other than that, it looks pretty decent.  I personally don’t think they should have rankings until the end of the 6th week, because it puts the MWC at such a disadvantage even for a BCS bowl.

Ole TBE loves him some BCS games. LOL The last four teams WVU beat in those games are all ranked above WVU right now.

Why do you think that is? It is because they are on the way up and WVU is on the way down.

You lost to East Carolina, Cincy, Colorado and Pittsburgh. I am afraid that doesn’t strike fear in the pollsters.

A one point win over UNC does not display a large separation between the two.

The Vegas odds of WVU winning the national championship are 60-1. Are you catching on yet?

It is not heaven on earth and angels are not running the show. Logic is your friend. We cannot all be students of logic but we should at least strive to be a casual fan. GMOs are banned in 50 countries, we cannot even get them labeled as we continue to dance with the elephant in the room. With each new dog and pony show we dance the dance like we were the homecoming queen.

No doubt some Big easy teams will find their way into the rankings as they allplay piss poor easy schedules.  It will be just a function fo their record and not how good they are though.  You keep bringing up the past.  Rich Rod is gone, let it go.  Overall I would put the Big easy at #7 just above the WAC.  Now of course Boise St is better than any Big easy team, but the rest of the conference is not as good.  You have Fresno St and Nevada, but the overall the Big easy is better.  So take heart in that.  Your team plays in the 7th best conference.  That’s not so bad, it could be the 8th.

He is living off of Rich Rod’s teams.  He is gone and so is WVU as being a relevant football team.  They are not piss poor or anything, but they will never be anything above a “good” football team.  They are not elite, nor very good.

This is the year a 1 loss MWC team will make a bcs bowl.  Just watch.  A non-automatic qualifying team gets an automatic berth if they finish in the top-12 or the top-16 if they are ranked higher than the champion of a qualifying conference.  I doubt any Big east team will rise to 16 or higher.  Worst case for the MWC is if Boise St knocks off Oregon in the opener.  The rest of their schedule is easy and Boise St has a better team this season than last season when they went undefeated to the bowl.

UNC ranked in preseason for first time since 19 freakin’ 98. While I normally wouldn’t even look at a preseason poll (not even in basketball). This year, as an alum and fan, I’ll just enjoy it for a couple of days. It’s true the finish is what counts, but starting out on a nice foot is good for a change. Hooray Preseason Poll! (BTW: Cow College (NCSU) garnered SEVEN votes! Way to go team!)

As a Tar Heel and someone who downplays media and national bias, I have to laugh however that Carolina is top 20 and NCSU is no where near the top 25.
