leading up to the April 10 spring game. Check it out on ESPN at 3:00. Enough advertising, I’m ready for football. I’m excited about UNC’s prospects this season, and think the defense is setting up to be stout. The offense is adding depth on the O-line with 2 outstanding Jan. enrollees and a red shirt from last year. I really thing Gio Bernard to turn out to be a big addition. What a lot of people are looking at is the QB position. Yates is the starter going into spring. That’s pretty obvious. I also think he’ll be the starter vs. LSU. I’m really looking forward to getting a look at redshirt qb Brynn Renner. I think he has good potential, and will eventually be the starter. I guess I’m going to go ahead and say I like UNC to beat LSU in the kickoff classic, and have a darn good season in 2010.

I’m quite lucky. I have a lovely wife, two great kids and an ever improving golf game.

unless yates sucks it or gets hurt renner won’t be the starter til 11.  i think as the wr’s get better at running routes and getting open yates will get better.

“There’s really only about three or four films of college defense that I really care about watching any more,” New Orleans Saints Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams said. “And he (Bud Foster) happens to be one of them.”

People forget Yates’ redshirt freshman year. He was good. He was also throwing to 3 guys who are now in the NFL. Last year he got hurt. Yates hasn’t been the same. I think UNC got better last year when they started designing roll out passes. That’s because of all of the O-line injuries. I think as the WR’s get better so will Yates. I also think an improved running game will be a plus. Experience aside, Renner is just better. If Yates is habitual with mistakes Renner will get a chance. I do think Yates will remain the starter all through spring and into fall camp. He will also start the game vs. LSU….and hopefully finish it. If he does it means things have gone well.
