no one can commit now for the 2013 class.  All you got is the word of a 17 year old…means nothing

“FSU is my dream school. Being from Tampa and seeing them a lot on TV, that’s the school I’ve always wanted to attend,” said Benjamin. “If FSU were to offer, my recruitment would be over because that’s where I want to be. I just love everything about it.”

Not football, but UNC had a kid say he was going to UNC in 8th grade. He wasn’t being recruited, but he said essentially… If I’m good enough no one else should waste their energy. I’m 100% Tar Heel, and I will work to earn a scholarship their. His name is Reggie Bullock. This past year was his freshman season. He broke his leg, and missed a lot of games going to the end of the season. In any event, it just goes to show you that appealing to kids one day may just pay off.

I’m quite lucky. I have a lovely wife, two great kids and an ever improving golf game.

So you’re saying these kids are gonna break their legs??

WVU had Noah Cottrell commit to Huggins in the 9th grade and he ended up signing but got booted off for being a pill head. I hear he’s coming back and he’s an awesome player. He was one of the top point guards in the country when he was a 10th, 11th and 12th grades. We need him.

No, I’m saying you probably would have heard more about him in the NCAA Tournament, but he had a broken leg.  Moreover, I was writing on the premise of early commitments. Bullock “commited” to UNC when he was in 8th grade. He was never recruited. He didn’t need to be. At the earliest possible moment he signed with UNC (there’s an early signing period for HS seniors in basketball). By stating “appealing to kids it may one day pay off” I meant…. being on TV and in the media and appealing to young kids may be a possitive. One of them may end up being a fervent follower of the school’s program and may commit at an early stage.
